I have been many times to Wetherspoons and always get GOOD FOOD with EXCELLENT value for money. This visit was no different to the previous one's. My wife and I had VERY GOOD service, but this cannot be said of all people who came in later when it became busier. This is by no means a criticism of the staff... More

As can be expected from any of the Wetherspoon pubs, the food and service was very good. Even though the pub was busy, service and quality were very good. We had the festive turkey pie which was excellent and plenty of it to fill you up. Worth a visit for reasonable priced drinks and food if visiting Coventry city centre.

One of the better Wetherspoons pubs right in the centre of the city and close to shops, transport and things to do. Great for a quick, cheap meal and drink. I often go for a coffee to take away or go inside for a filter coffee with free refill until 2pm. During busy periods it's sometimes difficult to find a... More

Visited on a Friday so had the Fish and chips - you cannot really go wrong!. Great value as always. The exterior is this mock Tudor which looks great, really oldie worldly. Interior is standard spoons, Toilets are upstairs. The place is very conveniently placed in the very heart of the city.

Good food as always, great prices for food and drinks. Would score 5 but definitely not enough tables and chairs in there and it's a long walk and lots of stairs and steps to the female toilets. Great central location to the shops and uni

Convivial surroundings, cheap beer & food in the center of town and within yards of the Cathedral. It's a good point from which to sit and work out where to go next, Cathedral, Transport museum or market.

My husband and I dropped by for a quick bite to eat on Saturday afternoon. We got a lukewarm welcome from a waitress who barked at us to sit anywhere. Not to be put off as we think Wetherspoons pubs offer good value for money food we found a table in the restaurant only section. My husband ordered a cheese... More

Visited the Flying Standard in Coventry on Saturday afternoon. The place was really busy so we went upstairs to order food. Found a table that was clear of plates and ordered. Food was really good and it arrived quickly considering how busy it was - just felt like upstairs was 'the forgotten' part of the venue. Tables not cleared quickly... More

On Sunday while visiting Coventry I had a truly terrible breakfast here. On a Sunday they seemed to have a special all day breakfast deal, so it being their special thing for the day, I expected it to be good. But it wasnt. When I got my breakfast I quickly found that my beans were cold. Not tepid, but actually... More

Description
The name of this Wetherspoon pub recalls the fondly remembered motor car, part of a range of models made in Coventry, from 1903 until the 1960s. Standard's first car, the Motor Victoria, was built by Reginald Maudslay, in Much Park Street, in 1903. The 'Standard Nine' was launched in 1927. Inexpensive, at A£198, its success saw Standard through the 'slump', and it was still going strong when, in 1936, the Flying Standard models made their debut.
