This restaurant is situated on a side street from the High Street Arundel and approached via a small alleyway. There is limited street parking available nearby so it may be advisable to use another means of transport if you have a distance to come.
The reservations were made direct via the web link on the home page of the restaurant and proved to be quick, easy and efficient; confirmation was given via e-mail.
The restaurant itself has a pleasant atmosphere, simple modern and light interior décor with an atmosphere that was both relaxed and easy. Tables are spread far enough apart to allow privacy for all.
The evening menu was not overly extensive but provided a good choice of food along with the specials board, which, not surprisingly, emphasised fresh local produce. On the drinks side the bar does its best to keep locals and visitors happy; there is a solid wine list, which included English sparkling.
All dishes were cooked fresh to order and worth the wait as they gave good quality, were presented to a high standard (compliments to the chef on this), with very decent portions being served and were considered good value for money. Items of note from our chosen dishes included the starter of ‘Pork Belly’ and ‘Ballantine of Guinea Fowl’, the main of ‘Lamb Loin’ and to finish the ‘Treacle Tart’ and ‘Rice Pudding’.
I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and would use it again should we be in the area – well worth it from our point of view and in a very pleasant setting.

This was fabulous! From start to finish, service, food and wine were fantastic. Friendly, unfussy, relaxed but polished, each dish was beautifully plated, the wine list was reasonable but imaginative and the cheese board, championing local gems, was so well priced. As someone who owns and runs a hospitality business, I salute this place for doing things brilliantly and in style.

I was lucky enough to go out for two consecutive lunches at different restaurants, both with the same price set menus. One was excellent and the other was awful - pleased to say this was the first one! Everything from the first friendly welcome, the choices on the set lunch menu, the atmosphere, the staff and, last but not not least, the amazing food. It was a really great experience and we'll definitely return.

On a grey October day my wife and I enjoyed our three course fixed price lunch immensely. So glad we booked, as there wasn’t a table to be had for walk-ins, even though it was midweek.
Apart from the standard menu there were three or four choices from the specials board. It was very difficult to choose, such was the range and the appeal of the options available. Each course was presented with the utmost care - as easy on the eye as it was on the palate.
Service was attentive and timely. We were neither rushed nor kept waiting. There was a genuine warmth in the welcome we received and the interaction with the staff during our meal was both friendly and helpful.
The accolades this restaurant has received amongst the reviews are well deserved. We felt that the meal represented great value for money considering the quality of the food on offer.

One of the best dining experiences we've had for years and we eat out very regularly. We loved the choice of set menu for lunch - cod with mussels and chive sauce, fillet of hake with olives etc., a pork special, a chicken special - definitely something for everyone, in fact we could have chosen anything on the menu!!! Starters were inspired ham hock with homemade piccalilli and the white onion soup velouté was heavenly. Dessert choice again super - set vanilla custard cream with raspberry ripple ice cream and plum and frangipane tart were our choices mmmm. A lovely welcome, a good bottle of Italian wine and £110 (ish) for lunch ... worth every penny.

Had previously missed a lunch at this restaurant due to their recent COVID shutdown so our visit was well overdue. As an aside, the restaurant hadn’t advised us or made contact about the previous cancellation, it was only by chance read it on Facebook on the morning of our visit. Felt this was a bit poor but due to unique circumstances maybe understandable… Glad we decided to rebook however as our lunch was excellent. Quaint setting in lovely, but very busy Arundel. The restaurant is small but well formed with our table towards the back and well spaced but, if being a bit picky, quite dark. When returning would probably choose the front or the outside terrace. Lunch was £30 for 3 courses, with a couple of specials at £6 supplement. Choices were very good with rabbit and mackerel for starters, sea bass and lamb specials for mains and spiced pear and chocolate pave for desserts. All were nicely presented, OK size for lunch and very tasty, with the main course specials standing out and worth the supplements. Decent wine list and good choice of well priced wines by the glass, which can be hard to come by nowadays. Service was friendly and very efficient. Overall was very impressed by the food and service and will definitely return.

A great little restaurant tucked away in Arundel offering some warm friendly service and great food.
Great warm busy atmosphere The spiced cauliflower soup with apple and scallop was so tasty and the duck breast with rhubarb jus lovely pink and filling.
I wanted more than one dessert which is always a good sign.

Service was very slow, an hour to wait before starter. When it arrived it was a joke. Minuscule, how they can serve such a small portion without embarrassments is beyond me. The main course was average and the dessert a small portion again. Prices are very high, no prices on menu so expect a shock when you get the bill. We will not return.

Dear SaveTheBees,
Thank you for your review.
It is really hard for us to respond to your direct experience without knowing your name or when you visited us. I will address a couple of points however. The prices are all on the menus. I am assuming you came for lunch as it’s a set price 2/3 course menu, the price of which is stated at the top. Any supplements for premium ingredients are written clearly on the specials board next to those particular items. We certainly do not hide any costs. As for waiting over an hour for a starter, nothing has been brought to my attention regarding this and we are very cognisant of time and if slow, we would always address our guests directly and apologise immediately. Regarding portion sizes, they are appropriate to the cost and value of the ingredients utilised. As you may know we make everything from scratch.
I would hope that when writing a scathing 1* review you would offer us the common courtesy of emailing us directly with your name and when you visited, so that all your points can be addressed properly and directly with the team.
We appreciate all feedback regardless of what is written, however we would love some more details. Please contact us at eat@theparsonstable.co.uk.
Many thanks,
Liz & Lee Parsons

Just can not fault this restaurant.
The food is tasty, imaginative and so beautifully presented. I often eat meat, but the fish dishes here are so perfectly cooked , I’m usually converted.
There’s always a great choice, and the daily specials board is fantastic.
Liz and her team greet you like long lost friends, you are always made to feel so welcome, like nothing is too much trouble.
It always feels a treat and special without feeling anyway pretentious.
An absolute joy....so great to be back after a long absence. Wishing you all continued and well deserved success.

Booked in advance for our last night in Arundel.
Couldn't be faulted and excellent service given the first day under "new rules"
The lamb was first class and very well flavoured according to my partner. Halibut was superb. Special praise for the outstanding cheese selection. beautiful English cheeses served perfectly with plenty of crackers.
Highly recommended.

Liz is a wonderful host who made us feel very welcome and provided a great service. With the resent reopening we were lucky to get a booking as it was initially fully booked inside so we were offered a table outside. Lucky for us someone had cancelled so Liz moved us to a table inside. It’s a cozy place with great atmosphere. All food is locally sourced and was delicious. I had the Sussex beef which was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. They have a great wine list to accompany the food.

We think this is by far the best place to eat in Arundel – if you appreciate the finest food and a stylish, relaxing dining room attended by genuinely friendly staff. On both of our visits we were presented with carefully balanced menus that included dishes appropriate to the local area. I had the amazing braised beef cheek followed by the plum frangipane galette. Looking forward to taking all our foody friends to this delightful restaurant. And here we can actually have a conversation at normal volumes without fear of a hen party on the next table!! A great British restaurant with a touch of that wonderful European continental style. Apparently the owner worked at Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons and Claridge's. I'm not in the least bit surprised. Thoroughly recommended. Oh, the other great restaurant worth visiting is Kenny Tutt's 'Pitch', but that's in Worthing ...

Like many locals, TPT was top of our list of restaurants we wanted to return to once lockdown ended.
Liz, Lee and team have adapted with skill and flair to the “new normal” and we felt as warmly welcomed and looked after as ever.
Our set lunch was delicious with the only difficulty being to choose between the delectable dishes on offer.
Thanks again for making our first post-lockdown visit a special and memorable one.

A superb lunch with friends from the town. Ballotine of guinea fowl, Cod on pea risotto and sticky toffee pudding were all extremely classy. As was the Nutbourne fizz we had to go along with it. We had the table in the corner which feels very exclusive and private. Service was quick and precise. Our maitre d' was also very friendly and I got a birthday candle in my sticky toffee pudding which was a fun touch. Highly recommended and great value @ £22 for 2 courses at lunchtime.

We have eaten here a few times and it never fails to disappoint. Liz is wonderful Manager who makes you feel welcome and special the moment you walk through the door. All the front of house staff are attentive and friendly and the food is beautifully cooked and presented. Nothing is too much trouble and there is a genuine desire for guests to really enjoy the experience. We were a table of 6 and every one of us thorough enjoyed ourselves. Wonderfully prepared food, beautifully cooked fish all in a relaxed setting with a great team, led by Liz, looking after us. Thank you all. We've reviewed you before and no doubt, will do so again. We'll be back! You have a great restaurant and we're more than happy to recommend you. We're all still talking about you today. Well done!
