We arrived after 'visiting relations' in St Thomas's churchyard on a bitterly cold day with sleet. The tea-shop was warm and I had toasted cheese (perfectly toasted) and lemon drizzle cake, my friend a delicious vegetable soup, scone and raspberry jam. All this was accompanied by a large pot of tea served in thin porcelain cups. It was the perfect... More

What can I say..... The staff were so warm and welcoming. We went to celebrate my friends birthday as a treat. We booked the afternoon tea and my goodness there was enough food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were given complementary cheese and onion marmalade on toast (delicious)! Followed by the afternoon tea which arrived with sparklers on each... More

Popped in for a bite to eat for lunch while passing through with my wife. The coffee was excellent. The Goats cheese Panini was delicious as was the Carrot and Coriander soup and Cheese and Pickle Sandwich all served by pleasant and happy staff. Well worth a visit if you're passing.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch hear yesterday. There were three of us ladies and one little girl and we were made to feel very welcome. We enjoyed leaf tea which came to us in china teapots, which we drank from china teacups & I had the best cheese on toast I have ever had. It was advertised as 'posh cheese on... More

I took my Gran & Mum to Lubys for a birthday afternoon tea and can have no complaints whatsoever. We were made to feel very special with some lovely little touches. The food was both beautiful & plentiful, cakes, scones, sandwiches, salad and even a little starter and finisher. It is a very intimate setting and the service was excellent.... More

Not the same as it used to be. Menu not as good and food not as high quality since its changed hands. I also caught the owner licking her fingers and not washing her hands before then preparing other food...yuk! Opening hours very limited. Shame, used to be a local favourite but haven't been back since.

We hadn't been to Lubys for a while so last week we thought we would have an end of term treat. To be honest we were a little disappointed. The cafe seemed to have lost a little of it's "wow" factor and we had quite a wait for two paninis which then meant we had to rush them to get... More
