This is a lovely, cosy spot. The food is really good and the staff are friendly and attentive. The decor is warm and the seats are comfy. This is a lovely place to spend a cold winters night.

Now called The Chapter House with new owners (I think they've put the room rates up if you want to stay). Essentially they do excellent steaks and very good beer. 2 for 1 deal on burgers on Tuesdays is particularly good value.

Anywhere that thinks it can get away with charging £9 for a glass of Wither Hills Sauvingnon Blanc (about £10 a bottle in the supermarket) has no respect for its customers.

I have eaten here a few times and have only returned because the food is so good. The service totally let's the hard working chef's down and I feel sorry for them. Staff swing between a complete lack of interest, stood chatting amongst themselves behind...More
