Nice lunch, but the experience was ruined by the restaurant policy to allow dogs in. I don't think the EHO would sign off on a restaurant with 4 or more dogs just lying on the floor. I suggest the owners re think their policy

Saw the sign for the pub on the main road and decided to give it a try. Every table in the pub was reserved so I thought that's a good sign. Although they didn't have any tables available, they managed to set us as long as we were finished by 2 - 2 hours was long enough for a lunch.... More

Our village arrange a Christmas meal every year and this year we changed from our usual venue to the Silver Plough. I was really looking forward to it as the pub has such a good reputation. On the plus side, as the booking had been made well in advance, a nice big table was ready and waiting for us, and... More

I'm sorry but charging £1.45 for a soda water is not cricket let alone £20 for out of the freezer food!! Avoid there are two pubs nearby that are reasonable and dog friendly in Hurdcott and Farley with lovely gardens and friendly staff

Having visited several times it was a pleasure to enjoy a very good lunch with good friends. We were caught out by the opening time of 12.00 noon but the friendly service and food more than compensated for our wait. Our first visit under the present management but we wish them every success.

Really nice country pub in Wiltshire. Decided to treat ourselves to lunch for once. Nice welcome at the bar and seated straight away despite having not booked. A decent choice of food on the menu with a selection of vegetarian options too. Food was ok and well priced. Staff very helpful and friendly. No doubt we'll return!

We walked 6 miles and even though the pub was empty they couldn't squeeze us in. Managed to haggle some chips but somehow made to feel we should be grateful! Nice chips though. Staff polite but disengaged.

We go to the Silver Plough periodically and are generally pleased with their overall performance. Our last meal was excellent, the food, service and drinks were all great. The restaurant was not busy and this could be contributing factor as when busy the service can suffer. They have a policy of supplying a birthday cake on request as opposed to... More

Walked in and had not pre-booked. We were welcomed and seated very well. We had 3 courses and came out feeling very contented. The Goats Cheese topped burger was suculent and filling, a must!

There were seven of us for lunch. A pub lunch. Nothing fancy or particularly expensive was expected. From our experience it appears that profits here depend on avoiding actually putting anything in the wraps, treating tomatoes as the rarest of fruit that must not risked on a 'ploughman's lunch' - and on employing very youthful staff (cheap?) who are expert...
