I was with my lady friend, we attended high mass at the cathedral. Then walked across the lawn to Bernieres to look for a sandwich. They were willing to oblige, but in looking around the tables, people from the mass were having lunch. We changed direction, sat outside in the sun, and eat a delicious lunch at a very fair... More

A delightful café/restaurant in the shadow of Salisbury Cathedral. Charming and friendly staff and a good menu. Be aware though that only cheques or cash are accepted, which seems very strange in modern times. Who carries a cheque book around with them?!

I arrived at 13:30 and asked for a tea, I was told that they couldn't serve me tea between 12-14:00 as they only did lunch. I'm not sure what else to say but I went to a teahouse for a tea and they couldn't make me one!

During the summer when we have our outside tables available it is possible to come in just for tea during the lunch period but unfortunately during our winter opening hours when we only have 11 tables inside we do have to operate a 'lunch only' policy. This includes being able to have sandwiches and soup for unbooked tables. We are... More

This restaurant is ideally placed for visits to The Rifles Museum, Arundells, the home of Sir Edward Heath, Mompesson House and Salisbury Cathedral. The premises is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. The service was excellent as was the food. A delightful place to have a coffee or a meal.

We stopped here to have a light lunch before going onto the Salisbury Museum. despite being very busy, the service was excellent, the young lady who served us , pleasant and cheerful. We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed our lunch which was delicious and nicely presented. A pleasure to visit

This small restaurant is hidden away in Salisbury Cathedral Close, where it offers traditional English food, with some more adventurous variations. Roast lunches are excellent - hot, freshly prepared, as are the cakes and home-made desserts. Service is friendly and pleasant and returning customers are soon recognised. Be prepared for a quite lengthy wait for you food, but enjoy the... More

A nice, comfortable, nicely decorated restaurant. Four of us were there for lunch whilst visiting Salisbury. I was pleased to order a bobotie as it's not often on a menu, being a South African dish. However, it was either over microwaved or over cooked, as it was very dried out around the edges. The three other people enjoyed their meal.... More

Yes, I've been waiting for this one to come in! I remember the complaint because my waitress was a little taken aback with the manner in which you made it. We obviously have to guess how many of every dish to prepare for service and unfortunately on the day you ate with us we sold 3 times as many Bobotie... More

That review title is not used lightly! My family and I (6 of us) have just had a lovely lunch at Bernieres. Delicious, imaginative choice of food, plus two roasts to chose from, and a great selection of puds! Even my grandchildren cleared their plates! The service was excellent, and extra trouble was taken to make sure everyone, including the... More

A charming tea room, idyllic location and wonderful staff. Our friends had never enjoyed an afternoon cream tea. They had never eaten a scone. You can imagine their delight and ours when we were served the best tasting scones I have had in a long time. They were simply perfect just like every other aspect of the treat. The young... More

We had lunch there as part of a coach party visiting Arundells (Ted Heath's former home). What we had was excellent & in a beautiful setting right by the Cathedral . The menu was imaginative which means this must be amongst the top places to eat in the day time close to both of the above places of interest .Could... More

Small family owned and run tearooms offering morning coffee, light and main lunches and afternoon teas in the summer. Situated next to the military museum in Salisbury's Cathedral Close. Outside seating in summer. Sunday lunches require reservations and our cream teas are exceptional. Voted one of the best value establishments in the UK by Olive Magazine a few years ago.
