We nipped into this pub for a bite to eat after a long training session in town! It's so so lovely and had a great atmosphere! Our server Jamie was great and even managed to cater to my awkward vegetarian/dairy intolerance. Really nice. A good stop for those visiting Salisbury!

I always have loved the haunch since I moved to Salisbury and I come here often. The bar staff are always absolutely amazing and welcoming but I agree with a previous post that the pricing is waaaaay high. I understand it's a tourist pub really nowadays but to charge £4.90 for a pint of Birra Moretti is a bit over... More

Visited with my husband for an evening meal having enjoyed food from the bar snack menu at lunchtime earlier in the week. We ate in the cosy restaurant upstairs with a blazing log fire. We had pigeon breast with creamed leeks and braised pigs cheek with white bean and chorizo cassoulet - both delicious and very generous portions for a... More

Been coming to this delightful old English Pub for many years, though I wouldn't say I'm a local. It really is a gem. But I have to say how surprised I was the other evening to be charged £4 for a pint of their weak session ale - GFB brewed in Downton. Let's be honest this is a charming but... More

Quirky small restaurant and very personal. Ideal for a romantic dinner and not too expensive. Good variety of foods

A must pub to visit, it is full of character, very small which gives it its charm, didn't eat here but the beer was very good, definitely worth looking around upstairs as well, charming old building

This is definatly a place to visit, chat to the the staff and history falls out of their mouths like the Narra Falls. So much information and a blazing fire to listen by. Come and gain quite alt of history, from Winston Churchill to 700 year old ghosts!!

My fiancée and I recently had a meal here. The food was served quickly and was of a very high standard. The staff were really friendly and polite. We asked to be seated next to a fire, which they did. Amazing!

We have visited this restaurant before, and happened to find ourselves in Salisbury again, and returned for another meal. We enjoy coming here, the staff are always friendly, and the meals delicious. The set menu is remarkably good value. This is a very old restaurant, and because my husband had a problem walking up stairs we were put into a... More

Description
One of the city's most historic pub, and listed on CAMRA's National Inventory as one of the most historic interiors in the UK, The Haunch is packed with history, reputedly haunted by the ghost of the cheating card player, whose mummified hand is displayed in the upper 'House of Lords' Bar, with the snug 'Horsebox' allegedly the meeting place of Churchill and Eisenhower whilst planning the D-Day landings! With a spacious first floor restaurant, and a recent ownership change, The Merchant's House dining room on the first floor (entrance through pub) features a contemporary British menu specializing in local ingredients which include our famous venison casserole, superb selection of local meats and fish. Complemented with a specialist whiskey list, fine wine list and local hand - pulled real ales, as well as very friendly service, The Haunch is a definite 'must see' on your visit to Salisbury!
