Sit down in the cute little bar room at the front of the pub, where Winston Churchill sat once. Food ok, a tourist must.

I returned here on Saturday for the first time in 10 years. Happily nothing has changed but the staff seemed even more friendly and accommodating. It is a delightful, cosy place to while away a few hours with good friends. There's a great whiskey range...More

We enjoyed a tasty dinner here after spending several hours visiting Salisbury Cathedral. We happened to walk past the restaurant while heading back to our B&B and thought it looked a good place to stop for dinner. I love venison and my slow cooked venison...More

£9.45 for 2 pints of normal beer. Much more expensive than other local pubs and I can't imagine why.

Description
One of the city's most historic pub, and listed on CAMRA's National Inventory as one of the most historic interiors in the UK, The Haunch is packed with history, reputedly haunted by the ghost of the cheating card player, whose mummified hand is displayed in the upper 'House of Lords' Bar, with the snug 'Horsebox' allegedly the meeting place of Churchill and Eisenhower whilst planning the D-Day landings! With a spacious first floor restaurant, and a recent ownership change, The Merchant's House dining room on the first floor (entrance through pub) features a contemporary British menu specializing in local ingredients which include our famous venison casserole, superb selection of local meats and fish. Complemented with a specialist whiskey list, fine wine list and local hand - pulled real ales, as well as very friendly service, The Haunch is a definite 'must see' on your visit to Salisbury!
