We had a fantastic evening at Sheep’s and Leeks. Paul called earlier in the day to let us know that the restaurant was unlikely to be very busy so wanted to make sure we would be happy with a quiet atmosphere - really considerate of him. The restaurant was quiet but this wasn’t a problem at all, the service was really personal and the food was brilliant. We had the 7 course tasting menu which is good value considering the standard of cooking. We will certainly be back and would highly recommend to others.

There isn't a huge amount of fine dining in North Wales so it's a bit incongruous to fine so a high level of cookery in a what looks like a normal shop front on a side street in Caernarfon.
However that is quickly forgotten given the skills of the chef's and high level of the food served up inside.
There is only a choice of a 5 or 7 course set menu and it's good value. Top quality ingredients, imaginative dishes cooked with skill
The chef has quite a range of dishes with the stand outs for me being the pork cheek and the broth used in the Asian inspired sea bass dish
Service is very friendly and the wine list is a bit limited but there will be something for everyone on it. Our choice was very good
The people behind Sheeps and Leeks deserve success as they obviously have a passion for what they do.
All in all highly recommended

Our first ever experience of a tasting menu. We'd always been put off by pretentious appearing premises, cost and it not really feeling like "us". Sheeps and Leeks with its unassuming and quirky appearance was the perfect place for us to get to experience a tasting menu that exceeded our expectations. Not only of such a menu, but food!
Each course was clearly, carefully thought through with balanced flavours and textures. The service was refreshingly down to earth whilst maintaining the integrity of the local produce being presented. We couldn't have felt more comfortable, welcome and informed
The only reason not to leave a glowing review would be to try and keep this place a secret however it wouldn't be fair to such an outstanding example of local cuisine prepared in the most excellent ways.
We'll never forget our time at Sheeps and Leeks and plan to make the trip from West Yorkshire again in the near future!

My wife and I visited for the 7 course tasting menu on Saturday 6th September, our waitress was lovely and explained the food very well.
With the 3 amuse bouche you actually get 10 courses, every one was a taste sensation, and very cleverly and skillfully put together, hats off to the team in the kitchen.
The ambiance in the restaurant was intimate and yet very relaxed and informal.
If you are in the area or live locally, go there and enjoy it!!

I live very local to this restaurant, but was a bit weary to indulge in a 7 course meal as I'm such a fussy eater... How wrong was I!
Everything on the menu was absolutely delicious and so beautifully presented. The staff were local and knowledgeable and everything on the menu was locally sourced.
Nothing was too much trouble for Paul and his team, I was even served a specially prepared chicken fillet as a substitute for one of the courses as I don't eat beef. (I kindly just to have that course without the beef).
It's so reasonably priced considering the time and effort that goes into getting every single detail looking and indeed tasting absolutely perfect.
Thank you so much for a trulu special experience. I will definitely be back.

New kid on the block serving a st 5 or 7 course meal all starting at 7pm.
We all (4) went for the 5 course option and it was great. Friendly service. Reasonable wine list.
A quirky place though. One review mentions the street level kitchen as looking like a kebab house. My first impression was a chippie as I mistook some resting roasted vegetables for small battered fish.....
The dining room is downstairs with really dated decor and the music could be better.
Anyway, top marks for the food.

We precooked on a Thursday night and we were required to pay a £20 per person deposit.
We opted for the 5 course meal and were not disappointed. Every course was beautifully presented and balanced. The snacks at the beginning were unusual and delicious. Including our snacks, we were presented with 7 courses.
We especially loved the cauliflower soup and beetroot and goats cheese.
The drinks were good value and excellent service.
It was very clean and COVID compliant.

So glad to see Sheeps and Leeks back open. They have been busy during lockdown, having changed the decor, there is, however, no change in the excellence of the food. Quality ingredients are combined with great skill to produce stand out dish after stand out dish. The service is very welcoming and the dishes explained in detail by the waitress, waiter and sometimes the chefs themselves.
This is food worthy of allocades.

Well, a hidden gem and pleasantly surprised. First class from beginning to end. We booked the 7 course taster and enjoyed everyone . Each dish brought to us by different staff members which included kitchen staff and each dish explained and all tasty and different. Paul you should be proud of what you have achieved and we will definitely visit again. Thank you J, G, G & J

Our visit was long awaited, but we finally made it! Gem of a place, top quality food, humble and very locally sourced ingredients.
10 course tasting menu will not disappoint, every course a new favourite and so flavoursome.
The staff were on point and attentive to the right levels and nothing was too much trouble. They had good knowledge of the dishes they were serving.
The atmosphere and ambience was relaxed and comfortable. The tables are spaced out with the right amount of space, this helped by keeping the dining experience intimate, but still nice to interact with fellow diners.
Great experience and quality for the money, would love to go back to experience seasonal changes to the menu.

Firstly, any low reviews of this restaurant are cranks and to be ignored. If you enjoy tastes and flavours and finding intriguing culinary combinations then this place is for you.
Kitchen on the first floor so was greeted by Paul and the team as we entered and then gently ushered down to the dining area by Rupert. Made to feel very welcome and the dining room seat a maximum of 19 so you know already it's not mass catering to push through covers.
Drinks, like the menu itself, thoughtfully local with the obvious exception of the wine. Good selection of everything.
Rupert gives that wonderfully balanced amount of fuss and discreetness so that we felt entirely looked after without someone hovering over you as you eat and chat. Kudos also to Seren (I hope that was right) on her first full shift, very diligently listing the ingredients for and generally being lovely.
Have I told you how good the food is yet? No? Well let me tell you it's fabulous start to finish. As you expect from a tasting menu each course is presented as smaller plates but heaped with interesting and perfectly cooked dishes. I hope that when you visit you get to experience the beef course we did as it was simply melt in the mouth and full of different combinations.
Really that seems to be Paul's watch word with his cooking. Unlike some other tasting restaurants which focus on Dalian-esque presentation or some gimmicky cooking style (I don't need great tasting food presented on a cushion of porcupine smoke supported by replicas of the Elgin marbles carved out of sunflower seeds) the focus is deftly combining different tastes to create very subtle but flavoursome dishes. Trying to pick out the various ingredients became all part of the night and very rewarding to pick out the subtler ones.
Lastly the boring bit, for two people with drinks our bill came to less than £130 which in my mind is actually a bargain for the for the food presented. I've eaten at other restaurants where the starting price per person for a tasting menu is that amount and the food not even half as good. Was left feeling pleasantly full not grossly full and whilst I might have said I could have eaten it all again that's very much wishful thinking (and I'm not a small eater!).
So if you are even vaguely near Caernafon (it's 300 miles from my front door sadly) and want to eat really excellent food in a relaxed setting then you won't beat Sheeps and Leeks. Bravo Paul and co!

We went to sheep's and leeks for our anniversary dinner. We booked a week prior so we were impressed that Paul the proprietor remembered it was our wedding anniversary when we arrived. In fact, it was noted that that all the staff team were just that, a team working efficiently for the enjoyment of their guests. Everything about our experience here was excellent. The seven food courses were exemplary, so tasty. Our waitress Dianne, was down to earth but very professional. Dishes were served in a timely manner and verbal explanations given about the ingredients. Main courses included wild mushrooms, lobster, venison, and beef. All the courses were delicious. Dianne was attentive and did not need to be prompted when our glasses were empty, possessing that sixth sense of social intelligence that the best waiting staff have.
Even the background music volume and playlist were just right. All in all a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended.

We were struggling to find somewhere to eat on our last night in Caernarfon when I chanced a call to sheep’s & leeks and was lucky enough to bag a cancellation. We had the 7 course tasting menu and it was magnificent. The menu was so thoughtfully curated with local ingredients and each course was beautifully prepared and presented. Every plate was wonderful and it was lovely to hear the description from the chef at the beginning. The wait staff were brilliantly attentive despite being rushed off their feet. You can just tell everything is a real team effort and that a lot of care goes into everything they do here. Don’t hesitate to book, just go and have a fantastic evening enjoying spectacular, great-value food!

Not our first ‘tasting’ menu but certainly up there with the best especially for the price. Very friendly and hard working staff. One sitting on the night we were there so make sure to book. The wine was also very reasonable and we were told they are looking at a wine flight combination in the future. Unfortunately there had been a problem printing the menus so we have not got the usual memento to remind us of the flavours which were varied and complex with an obvious large amount of work to prepare. The dishes are all brought down the stairs to the tables from the kitchen upstairs and we wondered if the tables could be arranged so that all diners could enjoy the theatre of that procession? Overall a truly pleasurable evening and if you are close take the opportunity to try some exceptional dishes. Hopefully you will go from strength to strength after covid and we will get the opportunity to visit again. Thank you.

Had a fantastic meal here for my wife's birthday. Each of the 10 courses in the tasting menu was impeccable, beautifully presented and full of wonderful flavours. The service was faultless and the wine pairing both good value and very carefully matched to the food. An occasion to savour.
My advice -
Go now before they get their Michelin Star - it would be thoroughly deserved.
Go now and enjoy food the equal of Manoir Quatre Saisons but much, much better value and without the pretensions.
I could write so much more about each course - just go and see for yourself!
