Incredible staff, incredible food, but need a better extractor fan/some ventilation.
We had garlic pizza bread, aubergine starter and a pizza (and some Italian wine).
The quality of the food and drink were superb and our waiter was excellent - exceptionally accommodating and friendly (he was from the Rhondda he said).
The only tiny thing that lets the restaurant down is the lack of ventilation which meant that the air quality was really quite muggy and felt humid. They could really do with spending some money on ventilation which would then make them probably the best place in Cardiff to eat.

Cafe Citta is located in the heart of Cardiff and is around half a mile from Central station on foot.
We made a telephone reservation for 8 o’clock on a Thursday evening and found the restaurant to be quite full on our arrival.
It is small and intimate, and menu varied with a good choice of specials
I chose stuffed peppers to start and Salsicce Saltate for main (Italian sausage with aubergine, courgette, peppers and potatoes).
Both were good as was the red wine, a bottle of Corvina.
Service was pleasant and friendly.
Including post meal coffee we paid £35 per head including service.

First impresions are that the Cafe Citta is tiny. Proper small. I felt like I was getting in the way of other guests whilst walking in but that's part of the charm to be honest.
Ours meals were cooked fresh, you could change any aspect of it if you wanted.
Prices were reasonable but £4.50 for a 330ml bottle of beer felt steep.
Service was super fast and everyone was polite and happy to help us.

Lovely Italian restaurant in the heart of Cardiff. We enjoyed a late lunch here on a Friday afternoon and were very glad we'd booked. The restaurant was buzzing and every table full throughout the afternoon. It's easy to see why when all the dishes are freshly prepared and so delicious. All the staff were very friendly and ready to assist with any request. Do save room for the wonderful desserts and make sure you book to avoid disappointment!

There are few family Italian restaurants of true quality that exist in the heart of many cities. This is definitely one of those and not to be missed.... a really homely restaurant of true Italian hospitality with superb home cooked food. It feels like you are sitting in one of the great trattorias in Italy. Yes it is a little cramped but it always feels cosy and friendly. The menu is varied and tasty being home cooked ,and the daily specials are chalked on a board , always explained by the very polite staff. Please see their donations website as they are struggling to stay afloat with this awful virus. God bless

I have been visiting Cafe Citta since my first visit to Wales in 2012 and have since always been excited to book a table and eat their delicious food. I have been fortunate enough to visit Cardiff for work this week and was delighted to see Cafe Citta offering a takeaway service (inc. delivery) as a result of having to close at 6pm due to the restrictions. A must eat!

We have been coming to Cafe Citta since they opened, which must be 10-11 years ago, and have loved every visit. We have been for birthdays, we went the night before my Dad's funeral, and last night we went for our 15th anniversary. The food is simple but perfect, the atmosphere is always energised but unstressed, and the staff are always friendly and professional. We had a delicious potato, pine nut and green olive caponata on bruscetta, and salsicche and spinach starters, then 2 pizzas from the specials board (one with Italian broccoli and spiced salami, and one with smoked cheese and prosciutto) and a tomato and onion salad. The food was delicious, and the service was spot on as always. We love this place so much, we were genuinely excited going there, and Diana the business owner (who we have missed on our previous few visits) was as cool as ever, it was lovely to see her. It's been too long.

Exceptional authentic Italian in the heart of the city centre. Went on a recommendation of a local and my word it was sensational. Small, friendly family restaurant where the team were so welcoming. I hadn’t booked but they asked for my number and called me at a time agreed to say a table was available as was vacated early.
My wife and I had 3 courses etc and coffee for £87 - such good value for top quality home cooked food in the open kitchen. 100% recommend.

I booked a table for my wife's 30th birthday recently, I made sure in the day that we had a nice table for the evening which was agreed, upon arrival in the evening we were made to wait even though we were booked in and then we were placed right next to the kitchen, where we were constantly getting bumped by the staff walking past. We asked the staff if we could be moved which was met by an abrupt no, the place feels dirty and was not a special feeling for a 30th birthday meal. It seems this place caters for 'regulars'. I will not be recommending Cafe Citta to anyone and it is by far overrated.

We went to Cafe Citta Italian restaurant and oh my, what a taste sensation we had. We had the sawfish and it was outstanding. The wine was perfect for the meal as well. The love that goes into cooking the food is so obvious as it is a family run restaurant. It is small and feel intimate and the staff are knowledgeable and so welcoming. If you are lucky enough to get a booking here you won’t be sorry and it great value for money 😊

I’ve been working in Cardiff since November last year and have tried a lot of different restaurants in that time but the food and atmosphere in this small Italian restaurant was the best so far. Everything was fresh and plainly made with love. Thank you, I will be back next week.

Nestled in from the street, this beautifully decorated, authentic Italian is a real hidden gem. The staff were so friendly and accommodating to specific orders; along with a traditional Italian style of cooking,eating and living feel, the ambiance was not to be flawed. You can see that all their ingredients eg tomatoes, pesto etc are fresh and everything is made to order. We got the seafood linguini (which contained a proper amount of seafood) and wood fired pizza (which had a lovely thin base). To finish was the best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever tasted; simplicity done to perfection. I could confidently say that it would be worth a trip to Cardiff to go here. I look forward to coming again.

In Cardiff for two nights we were so lucky to get a table. This is a very small intimate Italian with a family atmosphere. We always seek local friendly restaurants when we travel and this fulfilled all expectations. From the warm welcome to the beautifully cooked pasta we were delighted! It was a busy night with a full restaurant but the staff were unfazed and good natured. Lots of specials featured on the menu and the wine list was small well chosen and reasonably priced. We had some delicious home made bread and olives to start and pasta as main courses with tiramisu to finish. All the dishes were expertly executed and quite delicious. Our host Azzi was attentive and entertaining - in fact all the staff were charming. Thankyou and see you again in the summer!

A friend who lives in Cardiff recommended this small, family run restaurant to us for our weekend visit. Thank goodness we followed their suggestion and booked a table for 5.
The pasta dishes we had were really good. They are freshly cooked and gluten free pasta was available. The tiramisu dessert was the best one of our party had ever had.
The restaurant is small, but with a lovely atmosphere, contributed to by very friendly staff who took time to explain the specials board, even though they were busy.
Definitely a place we will return to when we visit Cardiff again.

Food is nice and fresh and comes out in good timing, however the restaurant itself has no or not very good air conditioning so on a hot day it’s just uncomfortable to eat in such a small confined space with only limited seats outside. The food is undoubtably great Italian cuisine however I think for the price it could be made better by making the building cooler with air con. The waitresses and waiter looked hot and bothered and could see they were struggling to keep the tables
