Walking around the grounds of Cardiff Castle we came upon the delightful tea room. The building is an architectural gem forming part of the castle wall, fronting a busy road on one side and a haven of tranquillity on the other. You can eat on the terrace overlooking the park and river. A large variety of teas were available together... More

This place is such a gem! I usually take my nan for a nice little afternoon tea date and its always gorgeous. I love the mismatched china and the old fashioned feel of the place. The cake counter is awesome and the scones are to die for. The sandwiches are good and the staff never have a problem when I... More

My friend treated me to Afternoon Tea for 2 at Pettigrew's. A cute, small Tea rooms situated in an old turret at the gates of beautiful Bute Park, next door to Cardiff Castle. I was endeared by the old-fashioned, mis-matched furniture and crockery. I found the staff incredibly welcoming, attentive and friendly. The portion sizes weren't the largest but you... More

I have been twice because I thought my first experience was atypical. On the first visit there was almost no food available as there were no staff. So we had a nice enough tea and toast. Second visit was for an afternoon tea. The tea was good from a good selection and great quality. Proper porcelain and loose tea. The... More

Cosy setting in the walls of Cardiff Castle. The staff were really friendly. The Afternoon Tea included a choice of teas, coffee and soft drinks. A great selection of really fresh sandwiches, fresh warm scones and a big slice of cake. Plenty to eat and we couldn't finish it all and were provided with boxes to bring uneaten food home.... More

This afternoon tea was given to us as a gift and although we have lived around Cardiff for many years I had no idea that Pettigrew's was there. What have I been missing, the afternoon tea was fantastic, especially the sandwiches made with their homemade bread. I recommend a visit to this tea room if you are looking for well... More

Nice place and very old fashioned which is lovely. You get the impression that they can't cope with the number of people who want to go there. The tea was ok. Cake and scones were lovely - they forgot the scones but we did get them after chasing them up - warm with lovely jam and cream. Would go back... More
