Found this bar after reading reviews on trip advisor , looking for somewhere to eat for lunch, homemade soup and a prawn salad fresh and plenty. The staff were most helpful from the waitress to the two lads behind the bar great help with selection of drinks. I had tried Guinness in another pub but thought as in Belfast I... More

Went for a light lunch with a friend. Ordered a pint and was told they'd bring it over to where he was already planted. Menu looked interesting, but the seafood chowder was the big draw! It's a big, open bar with a good atmosphere but the size of the place meant you had to use a wee bit of semaphore... More

Great little traditional pub. Not tried the food but it smells great and looks nice. Would recommend visiting.

This is a decent pub with a good fire. Nothing particularly special though. Why do Belfast pubs serve beer ice cold? Michael,Nottingham.

A proper bar. The bartender was friendly and we enjoyed the crowd. The beer selection is pretty good. We'd return.

A classic pub offering fresh beer and live music on most evenings. Food is available for dinner. Check the website upfront for the program.

So disappointed with stereotype! I had a couple of friends to attend the Ulster game that was cancelled today and i brought them to sample the culture Belfast had to offer! After having a great time at a couple of closeby establishments i decided to try 'The John Hewitt' to be told we could not enter due to my approach... More

None of our city centre bars reach the standard of the Old Kitchen Bar, but at least the Hewitt makes an effort to serve decent lunchtime food. The drink is also decent, if underwhelming and sometimes a good ale makes it on to the roster. The consistently good standard of service is also noteworthy, but the house PA system is... More

Good, well maintained pub in the Cathedral Quarter. Good range of real ale and local beer as well as all the usual suspects. Live music on when we were there (about 9pm on a Friday).
