Our favourite pub time is afternoon/early evening, not too big a place, warm homely atmosphere, no loud music, and decent pub food. McHugh's ticks all these boxes. Genuine welcome, attentive staff, very good atmosphere in what claims to be Belfast's oldest building still substantially in its original state. The bar menu makes much of Boxty, a traditional fried potato cake,... More

We have eaten in McHugh's on a number of occasions and have always left very satisfied, however our most recent visit was a complete let down. I ordered a Study of Irish Pork (Belly, Cutlet, Loin, Black & White Pudding, Mash & a Cider Jus) It sounded amazing, however what arrived was tiny. More mash than anything else and there... More

Called in here for lunch last Saturday and was very disappointed. the service was awful to say the least.....and we seemed to have 4 different servers. The first got the drink order wrong and the second and third didn't know what the soup of the day or the pie of the day was (surely can't be that difficult??). When the... More

we went twice - for drinks and for a meal. Great on both occasions. The pub itself is worth a visit - fantastic place to go. Excellent food and plenty of choice. This is a definite pub to visit in a city that has many great pubs.

Food beautifully presented clean fresh taste. Staff friendly great place to soak up atmosphere. Sunday they have a jam session where all musicians come together with all kinds of different instruments and play a various array of old folk Irish tunes really beautiful. Highly recommend this bar.

We dropped into Mchughs Bar on a busy Saturday night where there was live music playing, the pub itself was lovely and quite a cosy feel and the atmosphere was great, there was a great selection of drinks available also and the staff were brilliant.

Had perfect Guinness, perfect mussels and a perfectly good time in this bar and bonus; Guinness was only £3 a pint during the rugby game on TV.

Staff were friendly and pleasant. Food was pretty good. Got to try the mussels and chicken wings to start and pork ans salmon for mains. Salmon was spot on and filling but the pork could have used a little more sauce, even just on the side. Overall its a great wee place for food or a drink!
