Me and cherry had our wedding here and it was an absolute joy. Fantastic staff who bent over backways to make our day prefect.

Out for a drive on Sunday past and called here for our dinner as I had heard the carvery was good. It was after lunchtime so it wasn't too busy but enough of a crowd to add a buzz to the place. We were seated at a table overlooking the promenade and sea and it was a lovely day so... More

The place was recommended by a local taxi driver who we used frequently (Terry the Taxi from Harbour Taxis) and he did us proud. We were there with my Mum and Sister, and the varying tastes of the four of us presented a challenge to the establishment. It was a real laugh with super friendly and efficient service. Food was... We have just had our wedding at Hugh McCanns and we could not have asked for a better venue. It is a stunning wee place with a secret garden for the ceremony, loft suite with views over the beach and mournes, and the coast suite for the evening party. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and made the whole... More

Always love going here when in Newcastle. Always busy when I go but that shows how popular it is. Always great staff, always lovely food. Great location to sit and have a drink too. You need to visit

On a blustery day in Newcastle my husband, granddaughter and myself decided to have lunch in Hugh McCann's bistro. So glad we did. We were shown a table immediately by a very pleasant young man and our order taken soon after. I had chicken goujons with chips which came in a cute wee basket and side salad. My husband had... Hugh McCann’s is family business that has been on the go for almost 40 yrs, the building is around 200yrs old and has been sympathetically restored to preserve old world charm, yet with all modern comforts and fabulous design taking advantage of the stunning situation. The building nestles between the mountains and the sea. The cafe/restaurant looks onto the promenade and out to sea, the bar area and beer garden and wedding function room have views of the mourne mountains. The Bedrooms have either sea or mountain views. Ample parking for coaches is available nearby. Conference facilities include breathtaking 'breakout' areas, and fabulous opportunities for team building activities such as a walk in the hills or volunteering at a local national nature reserve.
