Last weekend I turned 40. My family and I marked the auspicious occasion with a celebratory Sunday lunch in the Anchor. The 18 of us swarmed in at 1pm, to be greeted with a good selection of beers, wines and gins - including Becks Blue for the designated driver. We had booked and ordered ahead due to numbers. I was... You will not be disappointed if you go here for food. There is a great menu selection and so very reasonably priced especially if dining as a family as they offer 'children eat free'. Food is absolutely gorgeous. Service is fantastic and there is a toy corner for the kids so they don't get bored waiting on their food. The... More

An experience of a real Irish bar: friendly, knowledgeable staff serving a wide variety of local beers. A quiet night while we were in so the barman had a chance to chat a bit. Highly recommended.

Payed a visit with my partner and her young relations last Saturday and it was just the ticket. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was lovely and good value for money too and to top it all the kids ate free.

Myself and five family selected the Anchor Bar based on previous favourable reviews and were not disappointed. The Blts were especially tasty ,the bacon being a stand out,and the French fries were delicious.Service was very attentive and the cost was excellent value.

Took my wife, son and daughter in law out for a day trip to Newcastle and went into the anchor bar for a meal.(big mistake) Waited an unacceptable 45mins on our order arriving and when it eventually arrived to say it was disappointing is an understatement. The chicken gougon meal was nothing short of a glorified KFC meal it was supposed... More
