We visited this unique restaurant based on the Don at the harbour entrance for a leisurely lunch. Staff were very attentive and the food was very good. We shared the mussels and I went with the fish of the day a very fine piece of...More

Wonderful meal for two this afternoon. Starters: Scallops, Pigeon. Main: Sea bass, venison. Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding. The toilets are very dated but clean, would not stop us from returning. Fabulous food. Highly recommend

I agree with a previous reviewer who felt new ownership of this restaurant has resulted in a less enjoyable dining experience. We have been regular visitors to this restaurant for many years and were never disappointed. We would regularly visit at lunch time as the...More

Having visited this restaurant over many years my wife and I were keen to find out what it is like under the new owners. Well ... 30 minutes for two soups to arrive from the time of ordering, with both our fish main dishes tipping...More

Great place in an interesting location. If you crave seafood a great place to go at good prices. Watch the ships as they depart giving you the impression of being part of the marine landscape. Food was excellent and I would be surprised if any...More

Return visit after eatery changing owners. First thing we noticed was that there were no longer set special 2 or 3 course lunches. Prices may work out similar, but physiologically you feel you are getting a better deal with a set option choice . Second...More

No dress code, smart casual, table overlooking harbour would be my choice too, watching pilot boats guiding the ships in

It's a tricky choice! With the harbor view, you are looking over the mouth of the harbor to Balnagask and beyond. You get a great view of anything moving in and out of the harbor and can see quite a bit out to sea. On the... More

Description
Named after a local term for herring, Silver Darling makes the most of a superb spot at the entrance of Aberdeen harbour. Built on the flat roof of the old customs house, the conservatory style restaurant commands panoramic views of the Dee estuary one side, and the length of the beach and headland the other (summer sunsets are priceless). A classic French menu is a triumph of superbly presented dishes, singing with flavour. Three courses at dinner could start with oysters marinated with lime and Granny Smiths, followed by pan-fried Atlantic sea bream in red wine, and the dessert du jour.
