Having tried a few other carverys in the area I have to say here is the best. Great large portions 4 meats to choice from and steak pie on top and we found out you can go back for seconds, although 1 plateful was more than enough for us we struggled to find the room for pudding

My how this place had rolled off the cliff since my last visit. Shabby chairs, and bar stools well and truly soiled. This place needs a good freshen up in the decor department. The ventilator in the bar window was patched up by tape and the carpets need a good bloody clean!. The new management aught to be ashamed of... More

We had a nice meal here with all the food being very well prepared and cooked. The burgers were superb. It was very quiet when we visited and the waitress left to go and work somewhere else and left us in the restaurant alone and we had to go to the bar to get drinks. I felt this was a... More

Read about this tavern on TripAdvisor and had to try it out I had lunch there yesterday and wasn't disappointed. It is hidden away in a back street and to be truthful I was a tad sceptical as being a lady on her own it looked lie a mans pub, however on entering this tavern it was traditional, cosy and... More

Very nice food cooked to order, served in a cosy lounge. We had a itison voucher but even without this the prices are really good. On the down side when the cleared the table waitress said is that your voucher I replied yes and handed it over, no offer of a sweet or tea or coffee left a be disappointed.

My second visit, did not disappoint. On my first visit I tried the steak pie, which was lovely and a very generous portion. This time I went for the macaroni cheese, easily the best I had ever had. Lovely (and huge!). Fab stuff, just what you want from a pub lunch.

Went for a meal with family as sister visiting, been many times in the past and this visit was up to the usual high standard. Service good, choice good and food excellent, one of my favourite restaurants.

Popped in for lunch. Two excellent full bowls of lentil soup piping hot followed by portions of proper steak pie and chips. Proper pastry cut from an actual pie with the soggy gravy soaked bit under the flaky pastry that's the best bit. None of your sheet of pastry threw on top of beef stew carry on. Think it was...
