Popped in for lunch. Door opened by male staff member. Didn’t say anything in greeting. Just turned his back & walked away. When he came back we asked if they were doing lunch and he just pointed at the tables in the window. We said...no thank you and walked out. Zero customer service and very unwelcomeMore

It is a little ‘low key’ when you enter the marina and the building is a bit dated, don’t let this put you off, the staff are lovely and our fish and chips was probably the best we had all holiday.

We viewed the amazing food photos on the pub web site and were disappointed with the menu. We were told there was no seafood due to Covid problems, as they didnt know when/if there would be another lockdown. Agree with comments from last reviewer that...chef was working at his limits. Friendly staff. Overall, we were disappointed, despite beautiful views.More

he limited menu is more to do with the chefs ability than anything else ... don’t touch the stewed scallops the Prawns... , dry as a bone .. stick to the lasagne and the fishb& chips that’s the level of the chef’s ability

Stayed at the Wide mouthed frog as a base for exploring Oban and the islands. Easy to get into town - 5 mins in the car - but peaceful location, with harbour side views. We had a really comfy room, spacious, with a hot shower...and huge bath. Plenty of room for our Lurcher to snuggle up on his bed next to the radiator. Road noise could be an issue for some, we weren’t bothered (exhausted and well fed). Breakfasts were a high point, full Scottish was great, we didn’t need to eat again til supper! Kippers delish too. Service was friendly ish, perfunctory, but that suited us fine and left us to our own devices. Overall a comfy little base, would return.More

We rang ahead in advance to ask if we could park over night if we ate at the restaurant. They said that this would be fine. The staff are extremely helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The food was all home cooked. The chips...were homemade. The lamb stew was very tasty. Lots of meat! A very hearty portion size. I would definitely recommend it. An Ideal over night stopping point.More

This place has a fabulous location overlooking Dunstaffnage marina and the islands and mountain beyond. What do they do?! Create a soulless bar and restaurant area, serve very average food and employ miserable looking staff.

Meal was on the expensive side but that said it was well cooked and a good portion size. Staff were nicely attentive without being overly intrusive

After a biblical downfall on our journey up we were greeted with a smile and nice pint of beer. We used as a base for our motorbike trip. Food was well prepared, restaurant overlooked Marina. Enjoyed our stay, especially banter with very friendly staff. Room...was clean well decorated and overlooked Marina. Looking to return.More

Have no clue why this place gets good ratings at all. I can only assume that people have low expectations when visiting restaurants because this place is dire... The setting is amazing. The scenery astounding... But that's where your luck runs out when visiting here....The outside eating area is absolutely filthy and is in serious need of a good power wash... Tables, chairs and overhead shades are full of mould. It's quite disgusting... There's no healthy eating and the food is overpriced. To be fair the food that's on offer is edible but they are stuck in a time warp with their menu. The staff are rude, loud and extremely unwelcoming. You'll not get a simple 'hello' of welcome on entering this establishment. The staff will carry on with their own conversations and completely ignore you. It's always empty during the day but busy in the evening when the sailors come in but that really is because there's nowhere else for them to go. I found it excruciatingly embarrassing watching visitors to our country experiencing this dreadful hospitality.. 21.Dutch yachts arrived when I was there all excited and wanting a hearty meal. Most were told abruptly that they wouldn't get a meal as there was only one chef on. So no communication between the marina and The Frog then... I suspect the owner's arrogance has something to do with that! There's signs all over the place, one telling customers how to behave... Yes really! Others telling you you'll get charged for parking unless you're eating and they don't take cards for spend under £10. So a coffee or a beer on contactless is out of the question! It was a zero experience and not one that I care to repeat...More
