Popular spot, and not a bad little spot for a nice coffee, home made cakes are a nice accompaniment as well.

This was my first time visiting. We arrived for lunch on a Saturday to find a large queue. This place is popular. The choice for lunch and the selection of cakes is fantastic. The turnover of people finishing and leaving a table is high so...More

My Wife and I pop in here at least once a month. Always clean. We can recommend the toasties. Also their desserts. Always busy but worth the wait in line. The staff clear and clean the tables regular but, never make you feel rushed. Excellent...More

Nice lunch, lovely staff. Can get busy. Only downside is that I'd don't get the cakes with the rest of the lunch so had to queue again. Will return!

Fantastic lunch. Soup was amazing. The beef open board with mustard is what made it drop a point as was a few very over done slices of beef and mustard - something was missing. Maybe a lump of cheese A ploughman' option would add too!...More

We stop in regular and the coffee and cake is great, coffee hot and strong, cakes fresh and fab. This is a great weekend wander destination as the garden section is good too, not massive but good gear. Staff are very friendly / knowledgeable too.

Visited yesterday and the staff couldn't have been nicer. From the café staff offering to go check other gluten free options than those on offer. The star of the day though was Fraser, who went above and beyond to answer the question "do you think...More

Not the same food standards as on previous visits, with the macaroni less than 'sizzling' as described on the menu board, also surprised that it was served with bread and butter rather than garlic bread. Prices were also significantly higher, and we were unimpressed.More

Sorry for your disappointment - we really do try our best. Food standards have not changed - if you'd asked for Garlic Bread you could have gladly had it. Someone complained last week that the Macaroni was too hot and they burned their tongue, so...More

Description
Situated within the Garden Centre this large Bakery Cafe presents delicious homemade food fast and efficiently. Worth reviewing.

Hayes of Symington is a family firm that evolved from Hayes of Ambleside and the 8th generation is now very much involved. The Scottish "branch" started in May 1987 and although related to the Ambleside family it has no business or financial ties.

The business ethic is to provide quality products at a constant fair price in pleasant surroundings and steady employment for approximately 40 local staff.
