Great food and good service. Prices were reasonable. Located near to the centre and when we visited the restaurant was busy and it was only 6pm.

Horrible greasy food, stale curries , service took forever and we even found hair in the kababs. Avoid like a plague. Severely understaffed. Waiters smelling like their clothes haven't been washed.

Came here after a few drinks with a friend, had a great meal, the naan breads are massive! Very nice restaurant, good service, would definitely come back soon....

Poor service with ok food in small portions. We booked a table for 4 at 7pm on Saturday 11 March 2017, restaurant wasn't that busy when we were shown to our table, ordered drinks, no food menus on the table so after 10 mins of sitting waiting got the attention of a waiter and asked for menus which he came... A friend and I visited this lovely restaurant last Saturday 4th March 2017, Although it was a very busy night for the staff we were welcomed as usual by marvelously attentive staff as if we were the only customers, a great achievement considering we always like a late Dinner early supper and therefore arrive about 21:30. Although the restaurant was... More

Most importantly the food was good and service was swift, which was important as we were there before going to the cinema. However the surroundings were stark and not very smart. And if I'd known they were going to play an 80s disco mix at full volume I certainly wouldn't have gone. YMCA is not exactly ideal background music to... More

What a lovely restaurant! Service, food, atmosphere ...... it has it all. Pre-theatre meal had a great selection to choose from, perfect before spending an evening at the Playhouse (which is directly across the road, so the location of this restaurant was perfect too). A sharing selection of popadoms, spicy sauces, chicken and vegetable pakora all delicious and presented well.... More

Was looking for an Indian in Edinburgh and walked in and was told it would be 30 minutes. It wasn't. The staff were welcoming, efficient despite the place being packed with pre theatre guests. I had a mango lassi , mixed pakora to start and a spiced korma which tasted wonderful with a chana side dish. Sorry these aren't exact... More

Visited here on their TA feedback, was not disappointed. Staff were very friendly, the restaurant is clean and well set out. We ordered drinks, then food, which was super quality. Starters, Main course, but no pudding as we were full up. I got a Korma, which was fantastic and my husband got a hot curry, which he said was great.... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
