One of the up and coming restaurants in Edinburgh, hence it is quite overcrowded at all times and I would advise that you make a reservation before visiting. We went there for lunch without a reservation and the only reason we got in was due to a cancellation at the time of our arrival! The restaurant atmosphere is very cozy,... More

Lucky to get a reservation on a Friday night as there are only about 30 covers. The front of house staff are fantastic, their knowledge the dishes and the wine provenance certainly impressed and the food did not dissapoint. We will be back.

Lovely little restaurant serving excellent food at a reasonable price on Rose Street. Staff were fabulous. Really busy so you need to book.

I would advise booking this restaurant in advance as it is a very small and intimate venue with ten tables or so - but this adds to its appeal! The food was delicious and although more expensive, the portion sizes were very generous so I felt good value. The staff were very pleasant and it was one of the best... More

Popped in here on the off chance and were lucky enough to get a table but it'd be wise to book as it seems a popular place and is fairly small. The staff were really nice and the food was delicious. This was our treat before we left Edinburgh the following day and we weren't disappointed.

The staff were very welcoming, quickly getting me a table as I hadn't booked. The place is small, but very comfortable. I ordered the Chowder and fish pie. Both were fabulous. The only problem then too fuel to enjoy a sweet. There is always next time. Great wee spot, recommend booking.

This is a small restaurant and it is essential to book a table. The food was simple but terrific with mainly Scottish dishes. The service was excellent.

Wow what a find this place was, thanks again to Trip Advisor. We knew this time of year would be busy on a Friday night so we booked a few weeks in advance and as they only do about 36 covers thank goodness we did, we actually wished we had booked the Saturday night as well as it was so... More

Birthday meal out with my husband, and our first visit to Wildfire. Food was delicious, would recommend the Haggis to start. Venue was very small, but this gave it a very cosy friendly atmosphere. I would advise to book well in advance

Fantastic birthday meal. We happened by this restaurant by accident and walked in because it looked small and cosy and the menu was just what we were looking for. It was early around 6pm any later and a booking would have been necessary. I had the haggis starter with a Drambuie mustard sauce, i am no haggis expert but thought... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
