Over 2/3 of the menu is veggie but the entire menu will appeal to all. Really good seasonal sandwiches and meals, great selection of soft and alcoholic drinks . . .and the cakes are so tempting. We didn't have room for them, so make sure you do!

I wouldn't mind the prices so much if there was a level of generosity with what you get But i always feel here they want it both ways The customer to pay top dollar for what they get , while there is someone here paying very close attention to weights and measures Bacon butties with not quite enough bacon hot... I grew up in Edinburgh and then moved to Australia. I recently came back to visit and came across this café. Lovely staff, perfect portion sizes, delicious meals and a beautiful view! What more could you want. Definitely worth a visit!

We had a lovely Saturday lunch at this cafe with stonking views of the sea and Porty Beach. Though we didn't have room for their fabulous selection of sorbets, we were very impressed with the choices available for non dairy and vegan customers. We all enjoyed warming winter veg soup and delicious focaccia. Mine was with four cheeses and charcuterie.... More

This was my third visit to this scenically situated beachfront café. Each time, I have been in the company of my adult children and infant grandchild. The multicultural staff are very welcoming to all and the food is fresh, generously served and original, with a very impressive selection of home-baked cakes if you have any room left for a dessert.... Had the soup of the day and a really nice garlic foccaccia with dried tomatoes and goat mozarella. Brilliant! Then came the best part: their organic ice-cream, which is local if I understood correctly. It was probably the best ice-cream I've had outside of Italy. Try the dark berry variety. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and were there... More

Way overpriced for what was essentially a peice of ham toasted with a slice of cheese and 2 rings of red onion. Would not return and do not recommend.

My friend and I met here for a long overdue catch up over Coffees and Cake. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the views over the beach were delightful and we were served quickly and efficiently. The Strawberry Yoghurt Cake I had was tasty, if a wee bit dry and the coffees were good. The place seems to be very... More

Description
The Beach House is a beach-side café on Portobello promenade (Edinburgh's Seaside). The cafe serves award winning Organic coffees, delicious breakfasts of croissants, scones or poached eggs & bacon; for lunch our menu includes sandwiches, panini, delicious salads and heart warming soups. We also offer a range of special breads – focaccia, seaweed; wholemeal and fresh baguettes. For afternoon tea, why not try our range of fabulous cakes.

From inside, customers look out onto the shimmering expanse of the Forth; seagulls wheeling, ships steaming, surf crashing, kids playing, its location is as good as it gets.

One reviewer put it 'The Beach House is simply café perfection'.

Come and find us on the Promenade at the foot of Bath Street, Portobello.
