There are not many places in Edinburgh where you can enjoy a bit of reggaeton on a saturday night. Fortunately there is el barrio. Great door staff, good crowd inside.

I complained with the manager and refused to bring me the three people working floor so I could ask them. Finally the girl I was with managed... More

Found this place almost a year ago, when I was looking for a nice place with good latin music. Ever since I keep on coming back. It's a very busy place during the weekends, sometimes a bit too much, as there wouldn't be much space for dancing. That's the only thing that I don't like about it. Despite the place... More

El barrio has to be my favourite place! All staff are so welcoming and always very polite! The bar staff are always so cheerful and patient-very good prices for drinks!! The doormen team are such nice and friendly people- especially the head doorman Waqas- always asking if you're ok and always puts a smile of my face! Definitely recommend going... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
