Excellent cafe. The service was first class with a water jug on the table as soon as you sit down. Bagel with avocado, mozzarella and spinach was outstanding.

Cafe class is a refreshing and authentic little coffee shop in the quite bustling Tollcross. The staff seem to enjoy working there, which makes the visit even more comfortable. It's cash only, although this is not a problem as they're located right across from an ATM and they happily trust you to run over and fetch money.

Tasty and huge panini with salad for only 3.70! I think that is very cheap. Especially when you pay more than that for a rubbish pre packed sandwich from the likes of Starbucks etc. Coffee is on point too. Quirky decor and laid back vibe. Felt very comfortable just sitting on my own here. One thing...why don't you do scones?... More

This is the best coffee we have had in our UK trip. The hot chocolates and cake were also amazing. Great quirky cafe. Someone loves attention to detail with mint in the water and then great handwriting on the boards. Loved it and well priced

I stay in the area for 2 months every year when I appear at the Kings theatre. I decided to try this quaint cafe for the first time for breakfast. I sat down and asked for 2 eggs bacon tea and toast. The waitress said sorry it's not on the menu. I said the next table have breakfast but I... More

A classmate brang me to this place and the result cannot be more satisfying for me. The place is really cosy and the staff is very warm. The food is really good for breakfast and lunch, try the vegetarian options. Really good, highly recommendable.

Nice atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and place quite comfortable. Food was excellent. My husband and myself had the sweet potato and lemongrass soup with coconut milk. Something I have never tried and it was excellent. Same as the pasta. Being a vegetarian they had a lot available for myself and my husband who likes his salmon. He had the... More

I usually pop by now and again as I live around the corner - they have a great food: full breakfast (with vegetarian version), great soups and saladas, and to finish one of the best cheesecakes in town - this goes nicely with a they're good coffee. The only reason I'm not given a 5star to this review is because... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
