This lovely little place is a little walk from the main hustle and bustle but was worth it. Lovely homely feel and very good friendly service. Good choice of freshly made cake, we shared a traybake slice which was delicious and had a good coffee each. No complaints, thank you

An amazing selection of teas and great coffee. So what makes the difference, the best eggs benadict I've ever had, fantastic service in a comfortable no rush atmosphere. I'm going back for lunch.

A short break in Edinburgh and an array of coffee shops ear marked. Well ... after visiting Leo's once, we had to visit again during our short stay. Our first visit consisted of brunch as well as a nice coffee. As featured in the Scottish Independent Coffee Guide, Leo's didn't disappoint. The brunch was spot on too. The service is... More

We went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning after researching for a place that offered a decent gluten free selection (my partner is celiac) and came across Leo's Beanery. Nearly everything on the menu was able to be GF! Winner. So we got there as soon as it opened (and lucky we did as this place proved very popular... More

I often nip in here for a coffee or snack and I've never been disappointed. The staff greet you with a smile, and the service is always fast. The coffee is so delicious and served nicely hot. On my last visit I bought a chocolate brownie and it was one of the best I've ever tasted... YUM Great if you... More

Breakfast was great! Really fresh food and the poached eggs were perfectly done. I highly recommend the scones with Parma ham and cheese! Where have they been all my life?!

good basement café serving a wide range of foods. I had the special hash with sausages and two fried eggs. Excellent so is the coffee. The porridge I am reliably informed was great as well. the second time we have been here and both occurrences we have not been disappointed.

... Coffee, bacon sandwiches, cake, and ambiance. Just 5 mins off Princes Street too, will stop by next time I'm in town.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
