I popped in around 9 on Sunday morning and got seated straight away. Decided to go for poached eggs on avocado toast - can highly recommend this! Their coffee is also brilliant, I had two cappuccinos but can't for the death of me remember what the coffee was called, it was something the waitress recommended. I was stuffed after the... More

Three of stopped for brunch 10am on Saturday, the place was full, wait for a table was around 10 minutes. Orange juice came very quickly fresh and tangy, two full breakfasts and the strawberry pancakes. even though we were all full could not resist the after breakfast cakes. When we left there was quite a queue, the place is busy... More

The staff are always friendly and busy and the place is flawless. Lovely and open. The food is mid to high price range but absolutely worth it. We usually have two mains and coffees for £25 not including a tip and the portions are perfect. Best of all; there are lots of veggie and gluten free options. We are now... More

Ate here both mornings of our trip to Edinburgh. Food was delicious. Freshly pressed orange juice, massive slices of toast, tasty coffee and really lovely staff who couldn't have been more helpful and attentive.

Ate here both morning in Eds. Great service, great food with a lot of variety. Even though there was a big queue on the second day we waited and it went down quickly. Only place in Eds. i would go for breakfast! I recommend the Benny's highly!

My family had breakfast here on Sunday morning, it was very busy, but staff were very attentive and they didn't rushed us at all. Great coffee, great atmosphere and the food was excellent. There is so much to choose from! Great selection of pancakes, toasts, bennys and delicious cakes. I had poached eggs with avocado on top of toast with... More

One of our party had seen this on trip advisor so we decided to try it. It was well worth the walk from our hotel. An extensive menu especially the "Benny's" their Eggs Benedict menu. I had a Scottish breakfast, which was lovely. It is a very popular place and we arrived about 10am just before the rush. It did... More

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to review us on here. It's great to hear that your party all enjoyed their food this much! Our special "Bennys" are becoming ever more popular hence the range getting bigger and bigger. It's actually quite disappointing to hear that your server didn't wait until everyone had finished to clear the plates.... More

We waited standing by the door for about 30 min to be seated on a Sunday morning/lunch time. It took away from the overall experience. I had yoghurt and granola which was rather disappointing. It lacked flavour and colour. Some kind of berries would have been a nice addition. My partner had lovely pancakes and a good looking egg benedict.... More

Hi there and thank you for taking the time to review us on here! Whilst we are indeed very busy at the weekend, it is very rare that the wait times go up to 30 minutes - we understand that this may have been a detractor of your visit to us but trust that the queue was still managed to... More

Visited on a busy morning for breakfast with a friend over half term and was blown away. Despite how packed the place was, staff were attentive, food was filling and delicious (I had the French toast with banana and coconut) and the coffee even better. Sending anyone I know who's planning to visit Edinburgh here.

Was away in Edinburgh with friends. We hunted this place down as it was recommended. So glad we did. Breakfasts were absolutely amazing. So much to choose from vegetarian options included. Was a very busy place and now I know why. Great food. Good service. A little dearer than normally would pay but worth every penny.

We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
