We had a dinner at this restaurant and it was really delicious. We ordered the meals with matching wines (by glass) and it really added to the experience! The service was also great! The waiter - Vlad - explained us very well what was the...More

What a fantastic restaurant. Alex and Wlad were extremely good host, like you were good friends arriving at a dinner party. They were extremely attentive with our comport and enjoyment, providing us an extremely informed description of each of the 7 dishes and why the...More

Been once before, impressed so have gone back. Menu changed and fabulous. Front of house guy informative with a sense of humour, even my colloquial Scots was understood. Food was exceptional! I'll be back as often as I can and have no hesitation in recommending...More

We loved, loved, loved our dinner tonight at Purslane in Edinburgh. As good as we have had almost anywhere. We each had the 3 course tasting, but chose different items. For starters: scallops pave with an orange marmalade with carrot puree topping ( not sweet!)...More

We really enjoyed our lunch here. Each course was a carefully crafted plate that tasted as good as it looked. Scallops with orange marmalade sounds like an odd combination but it was superlative and carefully described to us when presented. So that is why it...More

I heard a lot of Purslane before dining here, to say I was excited was an understatement. It was a special Birthday Dinner celebration for my Mum and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal. The scallops were the highlight of the evening - the...More

Away from the activity of central Edinburgh, Purslane is not only tucked away in peaceful Stockbridge - a 20/30 minute walk from the centre - but nestled in a small basement of a terrace of shops. All the reviews which highlight this as the star...More

What a great dining experience, we had the 7 course taster menu with wine. All well chosen and nicely complimenting each other. The dining room is small and it got a little cosy with some of our fellow diners. The knowledge of the wine and...More

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement

No, it's in the lower ground floor of a building and has stone steps down to it, which is unfortunate if you are not so able bodied as its a great restaurant.
Are you dog friendly?

Anna, I was a visitor there a couple of months ago. You can call the restaurant directly. However, it is a small indoor space and I doubt they take dogs.
Is there a corkage policy???

The restaurant offers an extensive wine list so isn't BYOB. There is a wide range of delicious wines to choose from however so you won't be disappointed.
