We stopped in at the Kilderkin while strolling the Royal Mile, after seeing on the menu board they offered Haggis. We had enjoyed various Haggis appetizers during our visit to Scotland, but had yet to sit down to an actual meal of it. The service was a little slow, given that there was scarcely anyone in the pub, but the... More

Went as a party of four for a quick lunch. Young Scottish guy serving us was a great chap. Went for the fish of the day. It was nicely presented on a beautiful bed of freshly cooked veggies. Served with chips. Asked for mash but was told that chef would not change. Honestly speaking have never been to a place... More

This was less than a block from our place, and soon became our pub! Really good beer on tap, and very traditional old pub. The pizza was thin crust and delish! The wait staff were friendly, and locals stopped in here-always a good sign. Prices reasonable! Looks like they have music some nights but we were too tired to stay!... More

Nice location on the mile, good asortment of craft beers and decent pub food. Seemed to be rather popular with the locals as well.

Like their great selection of whisky, Kilderkin delivers a solid pint with a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy it in after a long day of walking up and down the Royal Mile. After three days in Edinburgh, this was the one and only pub my girlfriend asked to go back to by name as she wanted her newly discovered, now-favorite pint...even... More

Went here with a group of friends one Saturday lunch time. It was crazy busy but we managed to get a table and ordered pizzas. There is a lot to choose from and they were really good quality. Service was great, especially considering how busy it was.

Having a whisky tasting at the Kilderkin was really awesome! Great experience, friendly staff, amazing whiskies, the passion is well shared and welcome by everyone, even by the most scepticals. I highly recommend this bar.

Worst service EVER. Arrived at 5:45, ordered food at 6:30, got food (after asking if they had forgotten the order) after 7:50. 1£ pizza Mondays definitely not worth it!!!!!

Thank Susannah B

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
