We are hoping to visit your pub for lunch or dinner on May 14th. Is there a bus from Edinburgh Old Town to your establishment? Will we have any trouble getting a table on that day?

Hi,
Multiple bus routes run from the Old Town to the Old Bell, the main route is from Potterrow (just look for "Mayfield Road" on anything heading South) - the 67 and 42.
Alternatively, multiple routes run from South Bridge / Nicolson St, which has stops on Minto St, which runs parallel to Mayfield road - this option does add about 5 minutes walking time.
It's a short taxi ride (if there's a group of 4 you the cost will be, per head, comparable to the bus), and there's also free on-street parking around 5 minutes walk south of us, although space can't be guaranteed.
There's likely to be space in the diary - I've passed your booking enquiry to the Old Bell management, but would encourage you to contact them directly via the Old Bell website, just in case TripAdvisor's message system fails us!
Enjoy your trip!

Hi Steven,
For a sit-down meal, 45, and for a buffet/drinks 90, both in the restaurant area upstairs.
Best,
Geoff

Hi Claire,
Yes, 5-17 year olds may dine on the premises when accompanied by at least one responsible adult - under local licensing law there's a strict 8pm curfew (i.e. no drinking up time). Hope to see you soon!
Best,
Geoff

Hi Shazza,
As a pub the Old Bell has no rooms and therefore no kettles in them. They can supply a nice cup of coffee on request however!
Best,
Geoff
