We booked up well in advance having been told the best places In Edinburgh get full up especially at weekends. The bar area is on the lower level with more seating on the outside terrace with heaters. The restaurant seating is mostly on the upper...More

Beautiful pub with super friendly staff. The decoration is eyes catching and so is the name. The place is worth visiting

Nice cosy pub off the beaten track, good selection of whiskeys and spirits on display. Worth a visit, recommend coming off the royal mile to get to it rather than up the stairs if mobility for you is an issue.

I usually don’t like the super-touristy spots when traveling so was a little skeptical about this place because of the reviews on TripAdvosor but we really enjoyed it! It was out of the way and thus did not have that feel. Walking through the tiny...More

Small standing area around the bar but it was the first Friday in December so lots of groups. Great buzz and quick service at the bar. Definitely worth a visit in Edinburgh. Try it out

Not sure this place would be the same in summer (does Scotland get a summer?!) but on a cold, wet and windy night it was a wonderful, moody, candle-lit sanctuary. Food was great and there's a very different cocktail menu. Book in advance - it...More

The Advocate was recommended by a friend & they didn’t disappoint! Between the steps (with great views if you turn around) & dark, mysterious alleys, the walk here was an adventure. You walk into the bar area which is an open floor with some high...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Edinburgh in general is a casual but stylish dress down city and you'll fit in anywhere as long as you don't wear sports gear, 'leisure wear' or trainers.
