Excellent little burger joint in Stockbridge- service is speedy and with a smile; location is ideal with lots good bars around; pitch perfect atmosphere and decent portions. The food itself was very good. had the lamb burger, which I couldn't fault, maybe the chips could have been a little better, maybe the salad was a little dull but fairly minor... More

Bells Diner is an old favourite - we first ate there over 40 years ago, and have returned again and again and again......! New owners and slight changes recently - but all good. The superb burgers are the attraction and they did not disappoint. Outstanding. Fresh, tasty, great relish accompaniment and beers and wines (shh) at very reasonable prices. Booking... More

Little restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Very good and tasty burgers (one of the best I've ever had) to prepare by himself with a interesting salad mix (e.g. Cress). Also a good mix of self made sauces (Salsa, mustard, cucumber, BBQ...) they serve for free. Chips were normal, nothing special.

We had an amazing dinner here! There was 7 of us, all different ages and ordering different dishes and everything was absolutely perfect! My 10 year old son ate everything on his plate - quite an achievement! The burgers were delicious and fresh, there was piles of chips and crunchy salad. I had the chilli butter which was fabulous! It's... More

Bell's diner is a great find, very small and cosy place and the burgers are delicious! Went for dinner with friends, we all had a starter and a burger and each course was lovely. And for its location it's reasonably priced! Burgers are definitely one of the best in Edinburgh!

Absolutely brilliant burgers. The choice of 2, 4, 6, or 8 ounch is perfect for everybody with different appetite. The chicken burger was fillet and the beef burgers pure grounded beef. Plenty of chips and freshly made milkshake , very tasty but on the small side. Food was freshly prepared and ready in 10 minutes and well packed to take... More

We've been to Bell's a few times and it never disappoints. Small menu but if you're after a burger, steak or milkshake it's right up your alley. Generous portions and a wide choice of burger sizes to suit your appetite. Advise booking if you're going at the weekend, there's only a few tables.

We found Bell's Diner just by chance after spending an afternoon looking at the shops in Stockbridge. Lucky that we were early and they could fit us in. I went through the usual routine with a new restaurant explaining how important it was that my meal was 100% gluten-free. The waitress was very helpful and I was reassured that they... More

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
