From start to finish the whole experience was amazing, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable about the wine, whiskey and food and attentive. Then came the food - it's difficult to describe as it was just completely different to any other meal I've had. I chose...More

A well-known address for the food and wine lovers, very nice staff, spacious room and tables, food is at the height of your expectations (considering the price), also a wide range of scottish whiskeys are available, a must-go if you can afford it.

Went to this little bar in The Balmoral hotel for a nightcap with my wife and another couple. There was an extensive whisky menu and many, many bottles on display behind cages. The whisky choice was great, ranging from £5 a dram to over £200,...More

Excellent service. We had 7 course meals. The food was good but not amazing. One of the dishes - fish was over salted. The medium rare steak was not very tender. The smoke salmon was amazing. Desserts were ok. Overall a good meal but not...More

Yes it is expensive but it is everything an expensive restaurant should be great food, great wine, excellent service, easily accommodates guests with celiac disease - simply a fabulous and memorable dining experience.

Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street
is only half one, since buildings only line one side.
But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views
are from Princes Street as a result. From here you
look onto expansive and decorative public gardens
beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s
Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old
town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look

It's a pretty fancy restaurant, if you wear jeans I would wear a dark color with a blazer / sport coat. It is a hotel restaurant, but I personally would not feel comfortable in jeans unless I dressed them up with heals and... More

As the other reviewers mentioned, I don't think that younger children or preteens would be comfortable and I couldn't imagine that they would enjoy the food either. It's a formal and quiet restaurant - hushed tones - so... More

Memorable flavours and world-class cuisine. A truly outstanding culinary experience, worthy of its Michelin star for the 13th consecutive year. As one of the finest Edinburgh restaurants, 'Number One' presents an innovative blend of Scottish and French flavours. Saute Foie Gras with duck confit. Borders lamb, broad beans and grelot. Rhubarb and white chocolate panna cotta. Take a seat on the golden banquettes and sample some of Scotland's most creative dishes from our tasting menus. Equally striking are the original artworks from The Royal College of Art that hang on the red lacquered walls.
