Would recommend this wee Italian place in Edinburgh. Located in South Bridge (Near Royal Mile) and all the amendities there, the place was brilliant. Went there a couple of ties on my last visit to Edinburgh. Menue was typical Italian and we tried several alternatives. The Pizza was great and so was the Risotto. My nephew was particulary keen on... More

We ordered minestrone soup and garlic bread with cheese to start, lasagne Al Forno and Rigatoni Al Fromagi (not sure if the polling is correct) as main. We had Panna Cotta as a desert. The food was all great and service was awesome. Highly recommend! The restaurant has a nice decor and relaxed atmosphere with an Italian style "open" kitchen.

We had a lovely family lunch this weekend, with a pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. The food was classic old school Italian, but definitely a step up from the average! I had a special of tender veal cutlets with a rich mushroom sauce and roast new potatoes, and the various seafood dishes everyone else had looked great as... More

Visited on a quiet Sunday evening. 2 adults plus 9/6 children. Me and my son love pizza and we both thought ours was amazing. We like it well done and the base passed our holding a slice out to see if it bends test( it didn't). Wife had the Dover sole which she said was amazing ( she doesn't like... More

A traditional Italian restaurant, run by Italians. Service was good, attentive but not obtrusive. Mussels and garlic bread to share to start, there were plenty of mussels and lots of tasty liquor. I had chicken in a creamy peppercorn sauce with roast potatoes. It e with a decent amount of salad too. All very tasty. The tiramisu was delicious. Olives... More

The waiter spoke very poor English and understood even less. It took five attempts to get a glass of COLD milk for our granddaughter as he was sure we had said HOT milk. After a similar discussion about white wine, I was served a glass of red but chose not to argue any more. It began to be exhausting! The... More

A lovely quaint family run Italian Restaurant pretty much next door to the Festival Theatre. Food was decent, and portions were big. Service very good and friendly. Unfortunately I didn't have room for their award winning icecream or banana split, but it looked amazing! I would go back here.

We were hastily taken to our table for 2, which ended up sandwiched in between 2 other tables with as little room in-between as possible. I completely understand restaurants need to fit in as many patrons as possible but this was being packed like Sardines. The waiter who took us to our table didn't offer so much as to take... More

Staff are pleasant and friendly. Menu is simple and clear. The food is fresh and the pasta and pizza always good. Children's menu is a great too with good quality child friendly Italian dishes. Loads of theatre goers in for the pre-theatre menu but whilst it saves a few pence, two courses from the man menu isn't that different in... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
