We stopped here for an early lunch and although the menu was a bit limited we were very happy with our lunch. We both had a sandwich, which came with fries and salad. All nicely prepared and served. Huge portions, large enough to share.

Popped in here after visiting the Theatre. Beautiful inside very gothic but romantic. Extensive range of cocktails and beers. Will be back on next visit for longer. A bit out of the way but easy enough to find.

Extensive cocktail list and some quality food in a marvelous setting. The atmosphere was great if not a little loud (a price you have to pay for a great bar I supose).

Have taken clients here for after work socials before. It's very central, the decor is plush, gothic, love the bar area with the booth seating. Has a separate room for dining. The food is bistro style with a changing menu and very tasty. The atmosphere is good and the staff are friendly. Will keep coming back. Oh and the cocktails... More

We visited because the photos of the place looked impressive - and it was.....but that's it. I'm not sure if the bartender was new....but he was awful. He made a simple G and T look painful to produce, fumbling over the garnish and basically making a pigs ear of it, and when they had no Fever Tree Tonic.....he pumped soda... More

This place is awesome! The decor is fantastic with a great feel to the place. We ordered the "Curious cucumber party". It was a cocktail that was out of the ordinary and even served with cake. It was the best. We loved this place and would definitely return and recommend.

Very cool decor, excellent selection of spirits and great staff! Cocktail menu seems to be pretty Tiki, which is great - Had a twist on a julep involving watermelon which was refreshing but only tasted like watermelon.

My husband & I popped in here on Friday at about 12:30pm because it was too early to check into our nearby hotel & we were frozen cold & desperately needed food! We walked up the stairs & into the bar area, I had read online the place was fully booked that evening & there was live music on, but... More

Came here for a quick lunch before the rugby. £5 per head reservation which is deducted from the bill. The restaurant was very quiet with only 1 other table occupied. Eventually brought menus and took the drinks orders. Approx 10 mins before drinks arrived. Another 5 mins before food order was taken from a very basic menu, not much choice.... More

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
