We went twice during our 2 week trip. Food was solid. No great surprises....until it came to dessert. The cheesecake was exceptional! Service was spotty.

Food excellent and staff attentive but suffers a lot from bar noise coming over the partition. Would visit again but not my top choice because of this.

A wonderful bar rightly Heritage listed and a magical place to had a drink after walking around Auld Reekie. Good selection of drinks with good service and food available. I visit to Edinburgh without a trip here is a pity.

We've eaten in the dining room and the bar area, and the food and service were very good. It is a convenient place for meeting just a block away from Waverley Rail Station and Princes Street.

Another one of Edinburghs classic traditional old style hostelries, with a modern feel, perhaps a bit hidden out of the way but worth seeking out, with a usually good atmosphere, lovely period decor.

of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest

Informal dress seems appropriate but we did not see shorts and flip flops at dinner.
