Christmas Lunch 2022

We visited on Wed 12th December specifically for the Christmas Lunch Menu but there is also a wide selection of meals catering for everyone's tastes. On being seated we found our table to be ideally situated and most of all on a very cold December day(-6) the restaurant was warm and comfortable. We found the staff to be more than helpful. very pleasant and efficient. My wife and I both had 3 courses and each one was better than the proceeding one on whole a fantastic meal at a reasonable cost i reckon you should give yourself a Christmas treat by making a visit you wont be disappointed.

Sunday lunch

Popped in with a friend for lunch on sunday a week or so ago. The temptation is to just go for the sunday roast but we both opted for steak pie. What an inspired choice!. Flaky and soggy pastry just the way I love it, chunks of beef in a rich gravy, a wonderful selection of roast root veg and brilliant mashed potatoes. Food heaven on that particular day. Service was friendly and welcoming, surroundings were busy but a nice atmosphere. Definately a thumbs up!

Excellent meal

We had been to the Abbotsinch several times before the pandemic but this was the first time we'd been back since lockdown and I'm so glad that I did as we had a brilliant time. We took the family for a meal to celebrate my 60th birthday. The staff are lovely and very attentive and the food was excellent as it always was. The portions are very generous and I took half my fajitas home in a box!!! There were 11 of us including 3 kids under 6 and everyone enjoyed their meal. I'd definitely recommend this place and I can't wait to go back.

Anniversary Meal

Had a great meal with the family at The Abbotsinch. All safety measures are in place, hand gel at entrance and staff were very informative regarding arrows directing the flow of diners to the bathroom etc The food was great! We had the Mexican Burger, Lasagne with chips & garlic bread and a kids Fish & Chips. Everyone really enjoyed their meal, all fresh, hot and tasty. Excellent portion size, too! Plenty of food for your money.

Really disappointed....very poor!

Really disappointed on the visit with our meal ... especially the chips and vegetables which were rotten to be honest!! The chips were undercooked to the point they looked(and tasted raw!) ..they were hard when you cut into them and looked to have been "blanched" in the fryer...my wife mentioned it to the waitress who offer to bring us fresh portion of chips but we declined. The vegetables were bizarre as it looked like parsnips on my plate but turned out to be sliced fried potatoes,carrots,shallots etc. The portion was big but overall the meal was a massive letdown and to charge £42 I can't see neither of us returning in the very near future ...and my wife is normally a regular customer with her friends at lunchtime.

Unhelpful service

Phoned them in advance of Christmas Day meal with dietary requirements. Totally lousy attitude it’s either take it or leave it. As the full family are going it looks like I have to pay over £50 for a meal that won’t be touched and returned to kitchen.

Best place for great food and friendly staff

Without a bout, this is in my top 5 places to eat, been going here for years with friends and family, and never had a bad meal yet. Had a few great nights in the function room too. The bar and waiting staff are always very welcoming, Russel, David and co will look after you. Craig who runs the restaurant always makes time to pop around the tables and chat with folks , as well as working in the kitchens. I can’t recommend this place enough go try it you won’t be disappointed , and if there’s any left ( as they go very quickly) try the rib-eye or sirloin steaks , forget Millar and carter’s, these are way better

Perfect food and service

Went here as it was one of the nearest to our hotel and had good reviews. Omg this was a fabulous choice. Food was excellent from the mushroom brucetta to the best 10oz rump steak and followed by the most delicious cheesecake. The service was top rate, friendly efficient and attentive. I will definitely be returning and spreading the news. Well done and thank you for a lovely addition to our short stay in this area👏👏👏

Pleasant Dinner

Four of us visited on a Saturday night. The welcome was pleasant, staff were friendly and efficient providing a quick service. The menu had an excellent selection and we all had different courses which were nicely presented and tasted delicious. This restaurant is on the level with no stairs. Toilets were modern and spotlessly clean. Prices were competitive and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Worth the wait!

Had a lovely dinner at The Abbotsinch with the family. I'd dined here previously, around a year or so ago, and wasn't that impressed with the food at The Abbotsinch, however I'm glad to report there's been a big improvement since then. Every course we had was spot on! From the Black Pudding Pakora to the Lasagne and Steak Sandwich, it was all really well presented and very tasty indeed. The desert of White Chocolate and Strawberry Cheesecake was irresistible! And I don't even like Cheesecake! Superb. My only small negative comment would be the waiting time. Far too long in between courses. It may have just been an off night, but we were starving waiting on each course coming. Aside from that, a great meal! Would definitely come back.

Not Bad… It was Okay…

Went with my wife for a Friday date night. To kick off 2023, we are trying different local restaurants, to see what we have on our doorstep. Food was fine, we had battered haddock and enchiladas, followed with vanilla ice cream for dessert. No complaints, the service was fine and dishes were as expected. I felt the premises was too brightly lit, which made it a bit soulless, it lacked warmth or a welcome, more canteen than candlelit. If you have older folks as friends or family, this place is a good option. Smaller plate portions are offered. For us, we are in no rush to return here ourselves but would consider bringing elderly relatives.

My birthday dinner.

Immediately on entry was greeted by a very pleasant young man who seated us with rest of my family. Staff were all pleasant and friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere in restraunt. Food was delicious and came in huge portions. Our server Leah was amazing id give her 5* lovely girl. Altogether very enjoyable meal brill staff. Definately going again soon. Thank you.

Have been here twice recently for lunch and dinner. Excellent service with an extensive menu. Portion sizes are very large and the price is good. Our party found the quality of food to be high and will return again soon.

We’re going to need a bigger belt

We were staying close by and on checking in were told they had no chef! We asked where we could eat and The Abbotsinch was recommended. We arrived at The Abbotsinch to be told they were very busy and sadly couldn’t fit us in with no pre-booking. We must have looked crestfallen as the very lovely man we were talking to said that he would squeeze us in if we were willing to wait. Well no wait was required! He, along with everyone we encountered were polite, friendly, efficient and accommodating. Our order was taken in good time, our food arrived without delay and the check backs were timely and friendly. The food was awesome! Fabulous pub food, done sooooo well. I bought a new pair of jeans today, I think I may be taking them back tomorrow and exchanging them for the next size up! The portions were very generous. If we lived close by, this place would be one of our frequent go to’s.

recharging after a full day drive

after travelling the entire day, I was in need of a substantial dinner. I ordered the chicken balmoral and it was delicious. The chips where well cooked and the chicken was tender. It was the first time that I tried some haggis, and I enjoyed it very much. The portion was large, but I just couldn't walk out before leaving them with an empty plate.
