Nice place to go to get a taste of a good old scottish fish supper. This place is also open at lunch times as well, however as with most of St. Andrews was shut by 11pm so no eats after your drinks. It also sells fresh fish.

Well I should start on the positive side. The seabream was wonderful. Large, fresh and tasty, However it came with some pretty indifferent chips and a pathetic salad. What a place! Four friends came in late on a Sunday, greeted promptly by the friendly staff and given a choice of tables. We stumbled across the Tailend for lunch and were blown away by the lovely food - perfectly cooked scallops, great chips, never seen such enormous prawns! Also the staff were attentive, service was quick and prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Haddock fish suppers to take away are always excellent. Fish and the chips are fried in beef dripping adding to the flavour but the fish suppers are never greasy. Tartar sauce tubs are a tasty accompaniment.

There's rivalry now with another newer place, which is also good, but the Tailend is more spacious and has more choice, the chips are crisper, the staff more experienced, the tartare sauce perhaps the best in Britain. Just a very pleasant place to be with memorably good fresh fish and tasty chips.

We visited Tailend last weekend and had a great carry out. We had a Haddock Supper and Scampi Supper, but there are many different fish options available. Both meals were delicious. We are a family run fish bar and restaurant. We have been in the fish business for four generations and we hope to keep the family tradition going. All our fish is locally sourced and is as fresh as can be. We have our own fish house based in Arbroath, Where we are particularly famous for our Smokies! (Haddock cooked over a barrel, giving an intense smoked flavour) and our Humble Haddock is also a customer Favorite! We are passionate about seafood and it comes across in all our dishes from the Humble Haddock to our Seared Tuna steak! We carry a bespoke range of wines and whiskys suited to compliment your dish, just ask our serving staff for advice.
