A favourite restaurant we visit regularly, Stravaigin always delivers tasty and interesting food. It has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Both the restaurant and the cafe bar make good use of Scottish produce- fish, venison, haggis and black pudding - but with a 'food...More

Being a true West Ender at heart (not the fake influx), this area in Gibson St is home from home for me. Apparently the story goes, that our conception (I am a twin but let's focus on me!) was just around the corner at the...More

We were greeted by an enthusiastic hostess and promptly served. Very chill restaurant overall. However, the choice of food on the menu was scarce and described pretentiously. We both had a courgette cannelloni salad, which tasted awful in our opinions, nonetheless, we finished it as...More

Don't be put of by the outside although it isn't pleasant with so many smokers and the bar being very noisey. You go downstairs and it is really lovely. It is small and tables packed in but this doesn't affect the quality of the food...More

Great drink options. I was hoping the food would be awesome, but it was just good. The menu is very Asian based which is unusual for the pub style environment. I think I may have ordered the wrong things, the Nasi Gorang was good but...More

Stravaigin is old Scots for 'wander', a word that nicely encapsulates the restaurant's ethos. Both the menu and dcor evolve; there's a wonderful creativity about this West End favourite. Locally-sourced ingredients are used to create imaginative international dishes such as Indonesian pork balls with vermicelli noodle jam jar salad. For something closer to home, try the haggis - recently voted the best in Scotland. The subtly dark, leather- wallpapered basement restaurant shares a menu and nautical theme with the less formal caf bar above. Service is informal yet informed. The staff know the menu and wines inside out and are adept at keeping cool under pressure, especially during the pre-theatre scrum. Exciting , affordable food without the foodie formalities.
