It's nicely decorated and looks like a copycat version of Wegamama. However, it is not the same. The ramen broth was not authentic and tasted more Chinese than Japanese. The ramen noodles were not authentic either. However, the food was fresh and inexpensive.

There is a lot to like. Long shared benches to sit at. Good variety of noodle on offer. Prices quite reasonable and food is pretty good. Service fine. The downside is the noise. There is thankfully no background music but having adopted the unfortunate vogue...More

Decided to go to Ichiban as I knew the food quality was good, and atmosphere in the restaurant would suit my saturday dinner. Our order was taken quickly, served quicky. The quality once again was really good. Once finished, we felt invisible to the waiter....More

Been here twice in the space of 7 days and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. The Ichiban ramen was lovely and the salmon teriyaki was delicious. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The Sauvignon Blanca gets a thumbs up from me too.

Been here a few times, the chicken katsu is to die for! It's always made fresh, and always lovely. The service is great, and reasonably priced. We will be back soon.

Food is always great, service is quick. Only criticism is forks should come as standard (I know chopsticks are cool and everything, but the fork is just a superior piece of eating technology). But the food is great, the staff are nice and the prices...More

Visited with a friend for a lunchtime catchup. I had a Bento box, with tempura veg, prawns and salmon, 3 pieces of sushi, 2 rice balls, 3 gyoza AND pickles and miso soup. That was about £14. They also do many familiar dishes, sushi platters,...More

Visited Ichiban a couple of times but after finding other Japanese restaurants of a higher standard and at just slightly higher prices, have decided we won't be returning unless for a quick cheap lunch. The food is of good standard, but unfortunately nothing special. And...More

I don't think they do kids portions. They are not that expensive especially at lunchtime , so I would give it a try. The food is good & if they have a good appetite , they would probably not leave much.
