Dined here on recommendation but in all honesty it was average at best. Spacious place and well signed Food-main course £12.95 for fish and chips served with peas and tartare sauce. No better than average although the home made sauce was delicious. The other meal taken was the three sausage starter £5.50 with chips costing £4.25-again an average dish. Food-dessert... More

My wife and I were invited to a Sunday lunch at the tavern and the food, atmosphere and service were excellent. This was our first experience of the Tavern and we will definitely be back. The food was first class and I can personally recommend the trio of puddings, the roast beef and the pavlova. A delightful place to eat,... More

Dropped in for lunch last week. Father-in law chose battered haddock from regular menu whereas I plumped for a Camembert cheese and wild mushroom tart from the Daily Specials. Fish portion was normal and filling. However the tart along with dauphinoise potatoes was a very small plateful and didn't merit being classed nor charged as a main course. I left... More

Visited here for lunch today, food was fantastic, very good service and waiting time between courses just right. Only point I would make would be it would have been good to have the open fire going, or at least the radiators on. Will definitely be back again soon.

Visited here with my father today. Very warm and friendly atmosphere with excellent staff. The male waiter we had was so informative of the menu and made us feel very welcome as did the lady at the bar who took us our bill. She gave us a lovely seat by the fire which was most welcome. This is a very... More

Been coming here for years and the food is always good, if a little overpriced. Nice, relaxing, quaint pub setting and lovely in the winter when the fire is lit. Only criticism is that service always seems quite slow, but I think probably because food is cooked fresh.

We were staying at a nearby B & B and had two evening meals at the Cawdor Tavern. The dining area is charmingly decorated. If you wish you can have a flight of ales, which were much enjoyed by one of our group. The chef creates very good meals using local ingredients. During our time in Scotland, we often ordered... The castle turned out to be closed for the season so we took solace at this quaint tavern. The smoke fish plate as great; loved the salmon. The cheese plate was good as well. We also tried their prize haggis; pretty good actually. This would be a great place to warm up or relax after a hard tour of the... More
