Had a family dinner here. The food was excellent, tasty, well cooked. I think it has improved over the last year. Service is a little more relaxed than it used to be which we like. Disappointedly the Lobster pond has closed due to some health and safety rules!!! It certainly is not cheap but it is worth going for a... More

We arrived on a whim on a busy Saturday tea time and we were lucky to get a table. The food was outstanding quality. The family atmosphere was relaxed but the staff were very professional and friendly.

The formal dining room is beautiful, but I think the menu prices reflect that. The 3-course, table d'hote menu was £42.50, with 3 choices for each course. If one chooses the a la carte menu, the minimum charge for a main course is £29. A bit steep if you have the veggie option of gnocchi! We chose the table d'hote... More

I went here for a meal with my family and I can't express how much of a let down this was. The steak I had was charred, unseasoned and quite frankly seemed to of been cooked by a chef who was inexperienced at best. My family had really similar complaints with their steaks and to be honest I was surprised.... More

Finally after living in this area for 18 years we visited the Ale and Chop house Took the advice of previous posts of waiting times we arrived for 1730 and there 3 tables left. Menu is mainly around steaks and burgers. We skipped the starters and went straight for the mains. Steaks and lamb chops were cooked beautifully and large... More

Lovely place to enjoy my mothers day lunch with my children, chop & ale house menu served in the main restaurant today and my goodness it is sensational. Attention to detail is flawless, food amazing and staff so professional and friendly but discreet too which is a real bonus. Still pricey but in my opinion worth it for a special... More

My wife and I visited the Chop and Ale House at Champany and enjoyed rib eye steaks that were as good as we have ever had. They come with a helping of chips and side salad. You will need a big appetite to have a starter and also finish this.

1st visit to the Champany Inn and we're not disappointed. We were made to feel very welcome ! We dined in the chop and ale and we had fresh T bone steaks which were absolutely cooked to perfection and the side of chips were honestly amazing! My partner then enjoyed the waffle whilst I enjoyed the cheese cake. After our... More

A famous restaurant which is renowned for steak. Pricy, but worth it - the dining room is fantastic with candlelight, antique furniture and paintings - very atmospheric. Huge wine list which can be very expensive or not so - you can order house wines by the glass and get tap water if you want! Steaks are legendary in terms of... More
