Everyone that we spoke to who knew we were going to visit the English Market all said "Oh you must go upstairs to the Farmgate" boy am I glad we did all lovely fresh cakes but the hot chocolate with marshmallows was the hottest and best Ii have ever had. Lovely

During our visit to the English Market we had lunch upstairs. My son had the oysters which were fresh from the fishmonger downstairs. Lovely quiche and susages with onions. Everything was very fresh and tasty.

If you're looking for fresh local ingredients in well prepared food or just to meet a friend for coffee with home baked treats this is a must. The emphasis is on locally sourced produce, well prepared, cooked well and well presented. Consistency is key to the success of this popular, well run establishment.

This place does great food. Always a pleasure to go here. I had a chicken main and I could not fault the place.

Lunch here was included in our hotel package, but when the receptionist rang to make our reservation, the only time they could offer was 3pm. In fact, it was 3:30 before we were seated due to a group being larger than they had booked. However, the food was fantastic - my husband said his sausages were worth waiting for.

On our recent we dined in this restaurant, excellent food Great staff. Just a little small and because of this the tables are very close to each other.but still enjoyed the visit

I've knocked off a point for the piece of apple core I found but it was otherwise very tasty. Coffee went down a treat.

Enjoyed lunch here recently and was very impressed by the venue, choice of food, and the general atmosphere of the dining area. The staff are friendly and efficient and have a good sense of humour. Prices are reasonable and it is well worth a visit.

Have been here quite a few times and each time has been good. Fresh food, nice staff and nice atmosphere as you are surrounded by the busyness of the English Market underneath. Each time the restaurant has been full and we have had to wait for a table but it is always worth it. The service can be slightly slow... More
