Cork is a great foodie place. So many amazing restaurants, good food choice, and great service. This is NOT one of them. Lukewarm food. Poor choice. Disinterested waitress and a nice touch at the end - trying to charge for more drinks than we had....More

For years a real favourite and visited regularly! Having realised that it is a couple of years since I last reviewed I felt it proper to give an updated view based on some recent visits. Star Anise keeps on giving excellent dining experiences, authentically good...More

A very pleasant little restaurant with enjoyable food and friendly staff. The early bird menu is very good value but you need to book.

We arrived with my 83-great old mother last night and were met with a great welcome and a table within minutes. The food was subtle, challenging, sometimes spicy but not excessively so, and the star of the show was the Star Anise plate for two...More

Surely one of Cork's best restaurants. Fresh, well-presented food. Fabulous breads, olives. If you're looking for a relaxing night out this establishment is perfect.

This restaurant is just a short walk from the city centre. The Early Bird is an excellent choice if you are going on to the theatre as we were. We mentioned this to the waitress and she was really helpful in making sure we would...More

I've eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed. Their goat's cheese starter is to die for. Intimate venue with personal but not intrusive service.

We have gone here periodically for over 10 years. It's my favourite restaurant in Cork by a distance. The staff are always lovely and Jenny runs a tight ship. Treat yourself😊

The food here was of a very high standard, and it was delivered very professionally. The staff were very helpful, and setting was nice. It is small, so the tables are quite close to each other. The toilets are also a little strange, but everything...More

Having been to Star Anise a couple of years back, I have been there twice as of late and as I remembered, it was spectacular from start to finish. Virginie the owner and her team looked after us so well, their level of service is...More

There isn't a 'kids' menu that I have seen, but we haven't brought our guy (10) there yet, he's just at the point where he is graduating to adult menus. But we have tried to keep Star Anise our secret up to now. I've seen a... More

I found it difficult to remember if there were vegetarian options as I am not vegetarian myself and it was a few months ago. Most restaurants do cater for vegetarians at least to some extent these days but I thought I would... More
