Very centrally located in Dun Laoghaire and a great menu. The food is very tasty and very reasonable priced. A good restaurant to visit if out at the pier for the day.

I walked into Mao having just arrived into Dun Laoghaire on a business trip and needing something light to eat. I've eaten there before and the food isn't bad. However, there is a sign asking you to wait to be seated. I did so, and stood for about five minutes while the waitstaff flitted about, ignoring me. There were at... More
One of the reasons I enjoy Asian food so much is that there are generally great vegan options, much more so that in western-type restaurants. Imagine my surprise when I found that Mao only had one vegan starter and one vegan main course on their whole menu. I almost left at that stage but our Asian waitress was very persuasive... More

And frankly, it shows a want of taste by the owners of this chain of restaurants (for I understand this branch is one of a few) but in other ways... More
The food is excellent with a large choice. I found the staff particularly helpful. The location of the restaurant is ideal.
I would have given this five stars only for the service we received on our visit. Our waitress was completely oblivious to us for most of the time we were there, forgetting to bring our drinks and part of our main course, waiting almost half an hour after we had finished our meal to have our table cleared off and... This place has always been a fave of mine, before I was vegeterian and now, its so good and the servers are always so welcoming and pleasant. love it!
We could not eat our dinner. I asked the waitress if the chef dropped the salt container in all of our food The manager said that Thai food is generally salty and that no extra salt is added. It was the worst Thai food I have eaten and will not be back
