So I recently visited Garvey's on a flying visit to Galway on business ,I was waiting on the train so I decided to pop in for a drink while I was waiting and I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival I was greeted by a really lovely barmaid called Nicola, who filled my hour with great conversation , great guinness ,... More

For anybody in Galway who is an American Football fan, Garvey's is a must-visit. Both televised Sunday night games are shown every week and the proprietor, is a friendly guy with a great knowledge of the game. He will go out of his way to chat football to anyone who has an interest in the game. Food on offer is... More

On our first night in Galway, we struggled to find a kid-friendly spot to have dinner; the fact that it was raining on and off did not help. We landed at Garvey's Inn and I wish we didn't. The bar area opens into a small restaurant and that's where we ate. The food was average at best and the service... More

We stopped in for a nightcap after flying over from America, driving from Dublin, checking into the Park House Hotel across the street, exploring all of Galway by foot, cleaning up, exploring Galway again for drinks and music and craic. It was now time to grab a table and sit down and have a drink and a snack. It was... More

Lovely pub. I like going her at night for the music and craic, and during the daytime for the food. Overall very good!

We were lured in here while passing by on our way back from Eyre Square (it's right on the corner) by a pop-up band with a woman singer belting out a Lucinda Williams song at the end of the bar. After they left (one song only) we enjoyed the bar itself--close to 200 years old, with beautiful wood carvings, decorated... More

This pub is on the corner of the train station and an open park area. They have a column covered with US police patches; it's fun to find your hometown be represented.

If you don't want the tourist experience then head over to Garvey's. It's a beautiful pup that serves meals as well in a lower level dining area rich with dark woods, vintage artwork, posters, photos, and low lit lighting. I had the Garvey Burger which melts in your mouth. My boyfriend had the bangers and mash and he said it... More

In tallying up our restaurant visits while on holiday in the Galway area, Garvey's came up FIVE times and with good reason. First of all, it was a convenient place for our group of seven to gather at a specific time as it was located convenient to bus, train and taxi transportation. Second it was a proper pub meaning a...
