We visited Glenlo Abbey for Afternoon Tea we were shown to a lovely room with tables set with linen tablecloths and serviettes. Our table had a lovely view of the Golf Course and the river. We were served our tea and coffee immediately but our food arrived at least 20 minutes later. The portions per person were tiny, quarter of... More

Food was defiantly 5 star but almost to fishy for my liking. Myself and my boyfriend went for dinner as we were staying in the hotel. Staff were so friendly and so accommodating. My boyfriend has a nut and fish allergy. The chef did a whole new dessert without nuts in if for us. Well worth the wait. The portions... More

This restaurant makes for a very special meal. A reservation in advance is definitely required. Dining is set in a Pullman train carriage. The food is really delicious and the accompanying wine selection is excellent. Not to be missed.

Just an incredible experience from start to finish! Would recommend you try here even if you are not staying in the hotel. Staff were fantastic. It is held on 2 old original Orient Express train carriages. The whole history is there including how they were used in the movie and for Churchill’s funeral. The food to me was Michelin standard... Recently went for afternoon tea with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Was looking forward to it as my girlfriend is very fond of the hotel. The afternoon tea cost €60 and unfortunately it was not worth it at all. Although it's coming up to Christmas we were not expecting a Christmas theme afternoon tea where everything was overly sweet and... More

What a evening! You can completely imagine yourself at the time traveling by train and enjoying your trip. Very nice service and romantic tables. You can also book a private cabine if you are more than 2. yThe food is nicely presented and with very good local ingredients. Between the wagons the sound of a train moving and luggages stored... This is where you need to eat if you stay in Galway. The train cars are beautiful, the service is great, and the food is wonderful.

Description
The Pullman Restaurant on the grounds of Glenlo Abbey Hotel is one of Ireland's truly unique dining experiences. Comprising of two dining carriages from the Orient Express, beautifully restored and now set on the grounds of the 5 star Glenlo Abbey Hotel, offers panoramic views overlooking Lough Corrib. Located just 2 miles from Galway, on the West Coast of Ireland, this is a dining experience not to be missed on your trip to Galway. One of the carriages, the Leona, dates back to 1927 and was part of the original Orient Express and carried VIP's all over Europe and the UK during its lifespan. 1965 saw Leona's final journey when she was used as part of Winston Churchill's funeral cortege. After this event, Leona with other carriages played a staring role in the classic movie, "Murder on the Orient Express", which featured greats such as Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall and Sean Connery. Opened in May 1998, the Pullman Restaurant aboard the Orient Express enjoys fabulous views of Lough Corrib and ironically 300 metres away from the old track bed of the now lost Galway-Clifden railway line. Majestically rising from the still waters of Lough Corrib and dating back to the 18th Century, the 5 star Glenlo Abbey Hotel is where old world charm meets contemporary elegance. From the moment you drive through our magnificent cast iron gates the beauty of this enchanting lakeside estate overlooking Lough Corrib will captivate you.
