On arriving to Bricin restaurant we were greeted by our wonderful host Johnny McGuire {His brother Paddy McGuire is the head chef} who was so welcoming. All staff wore masks and visors which was very reassuring, We felt very welcome and safe. The staff were constantly hand sanitizing. The food and service was amazing. We chose crab claws and spring rolls for starter, rack of Kerry lamb and John Dory for mains and to finish off the evening we had sticky toffee pudding & ice-cream with butterscotch sauce. We had a bottle of Merlot which complimented our meal. It was exceptional from start to finish. When it came to pay our waitress politely wiped down our card with an antibacterial wipe before handing it back to us. Well done to Johnny and his fantastic team for a night to remember in these troubled times.

We were a couple looking to dine without a reservation. The restaurant had bookings for that evening however we were accommodated and told the table was needed back in 1hr 45 mins, more than enough time. The waitress was responsive to all of our requests and she replenished our water and bread throughput the meal without us needing to ask. We had the camembert and mussels to start and then the filet steak and rack of lamb as a main. The food was cooked perfectly and the portions are plentiful. It really was haute cuisine disguised as humble homemade Irish. If you are thinking of trying the Bricin, stop thinking and just do. You will not regret it

Tonight’s dinner is the best customer service I have ever experienced. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the staff with a warm smile and a lovely chat, who also informed us about the COVID 19 guidelines they have in place which made us feel like we were in safe hands from the get go. The food was absolutely incredible, I really recommend the goats cheese tart! The sticky pudding desert was also fabulous, and the restaurant’s home made bread tasted so fresh and delicious. I cannot compliment the staff enough, between checking up on us, recommending local hikes and having general great conversation - it made us feel like we were having a homemade meal with family, with traditional Irish music playing in the ground. Also props for the great job with the new guidelines - all tables were spaced out, hand sanitisers available and all staff were wearing PPE. Thank you for making our evening! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. 10/10

This was definitely the nicest restaurant I, and my fiancé, ate in while in Killarney. We were immediately met with a warm welcome from the owner, who was such a lovely man, are table was in the middle of their main dining room which felt like you were inside a grand manor house dining room but had the intimacy of your Nana's own dining room. The food was supreme, it tasted again like your Nana's cooking, and then some. The deep fried camembert had the most delicate beer batter on it, that wasn't too much and was far from greasy, the bruschetta had the perfect amount of mozzarella grilled on top of it, with the freshest tomato. The curried lamb boxty was very possibly the nicest thing I've eaten in some time, they say it's lightly curried which they must only mean in heat because the curry flavour was very much there, the fillet steak was cooked to perfection and tasted the just as perfect. I cannot recommend this restaurant more, we will absolutely be back.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. It is extremely Covid-compliant and at the same time, a very warm atmosphere is cultivated in the restaurant by the staff. We felt extremely welcome. The food was fantastic with excellent vegetarian options and good choice for our children too. Seating is very safe as tables are set mostly in booths. Staff wore visors properly and all tables, chairs and menus were being cleaned after each party. Our waitress was so friendly and made us all feel at ease. They even have a one way in and out system so that other patrons are not passing your table. It is the best set up I have experienced so far. The craft shop underneath is a delight. This restaurant is well worth a visit!

Myself and my partner just had a really lovely meal in the Bricin restaurant.. From start to finish the service.. Hospitality and food were superb. Couldn't have asked for better. Comfortable surroundings.. Our waitress Alicia..apologies if I have your name wrong... Was so friendly and full of chat.... It was my partners birthday and they presented him with a decorated dessert and a round of the happy birthday song which was much appreciated. Overall I'd highly recommend the Bricin...service.. Friendliness and value for money. Excellent food too. Thanks to the Bricin for a wonderful evening

Dined in Bricin over the weekend & I must say, I was not disappointed. Friendly, accommodating staff, excellent food & great value for your money. We had the Early Bird Menu - €27 for three courses & we dined like ladies. It was my niece’s 18th and the waitress stuck a candle on her dessert before she brought it out, extremely thoughtful. Would highly recommend - will be returning for wonderful, homely, great tasting food! Point to note: their homemade brown bread is delicious, one must try it with real butter!

Great food, great service. We booked in for the 6pm sitting. There was the four of us, 2ad and 2ch. Our children are at a stage where an adult meal is too much but a child’s portion can be too small. We were delighted to see that the kids portions were suitably generous. I chose the vegetable soup to start and the chicken boxty for main both were piping hot and very tasty and hearty. My husband had the chowder to start and the lamb boxty for main. Again plenty of fish in the chowder and the boxty full of lamb. The highlight of the evening however was the friendly and attentive service. My so commented several times on how lovely our server was. We didn’t catch her name but she was very helpful. Even giving the children extra chocolate mints at the end of the meal. Bricin was good value for money encompassing tasty wholesome food and warm hospitality. We will definitely go back

We secured an early (6pm) booking on a busy Saturday night and were delighted with our experience. We were welcomed warmly by all staff, seated and served promptly- important with two impatient youngsters in our party! There were various menus available to access using a QR scanner and we ate a variety of delicious foods from them- steaks, seafood, soup...then on to succulent deserts and rich coffees to finish. We were well tended to throughout the meal with staff regularly checking in on us, topping up water, wine and beer orders. We didn’t feel rushed and we’re extremely comfortable in the busy restaurant due to the various covid conscious measures the restaurant had in place to ensure safe dining for all (masks and visors, separate entry and exit points, individually packaged condiments etc). The food was extremely hearty and portions were generous. Cannot fault the quality of ten experience or food and would have no problem recommending this restaurant.

Stopped in here after completing the Ring of Kerry cycle so we were fairly ravenous!! Staff were very friendly and were adhering to all health and safety regulations regarding social distancing, wearing masks and disinfection of utensils and tables. Despite all these extra protocols in place, the atmosphere was very cosy and relaxing. We ordered the crab claws and spring rolls for starters. Both were delicious with the only down point being the sauce that came with the spring rolls - we would have rathered it be a bit sweeter than savoury but that's likely personal preference more than anything. For mains we got the rack of lamb, beautifully cooked and melt in the mouth. The side plate of veg was generous and well seasoned. We settled on an irish coffee and baileys coffee for dessert as needed to save eating space in order to get a few pints down the road but the options were plentiful. Staff were very helpful in recommendations and brilliant in their service. All in, an excellent experience and highly recommend.

Our visit to Killarney this time included trying new restaurants in town as we really had not investigated them over the years we had been coming. Tonight was Bricin, as recommended by our tour guide. An excellent choice. It is located on High street on the second floor of the gift and craft shop that bears the same name. RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST for this restaurant as it is as popular with the locals as with tourists. We visited on Thursday night and they were turning people away at 7:00pm w/o reservations. It is a lovely space with memorabilia, photos, and paintings depicting old Killarney on the walls throughout the space. They have a full bar with a nice selection of local beers, ciders and irish whiskeys. I started with a bowl of the mussels in a white wine sauce. All opened, plump and delicious, the best I have add while on this trip. Wifey had the veg and chicken spring rolls, perfect size and wonderful as well. For my mains as they say in Ireland, I ordered the rack of lamb, medium rare. Four delicious ribs were presented in a delicous au jus, perfectly prepared and amazing to eat. Mine came with stir fried veg and colcannon. Great tasting sides which I thoroughly enjoyed. Wife had the shelled prawns in a white cream sauce with rice and stir fried veg. Yummy! Service was efficient, friendly and timely as well. Highly recommend I almost forgot, they have a nice little wine list as well that covers the bases

Where to start! We visited Bricín while staying in Killarney. Met at the door by the owner who explained all of the Covid safety procedures. Great menu! As a vegetarian it can sometimes be difficult to choose something a little different. Our waitress Lorraine (there should be a Lorraine in every restaurant) recommended the nutroast. It was amazing! Our daughter Laura (14) said that the hake she had ordered was the best she had ever tasted and my husband really enjoyed his chicken supreme. And then there is the desserts! Fruit Crumble, strawberry pavlova and cheesecake, all fabulous! What a place to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary - one of the nicest restaurants I have ever eaten in and with lovely atmosphere especially considering the covid restrictions. There is only one problem with this restaurant..it's in Killarney and not Carlow!

A starter of seafood chowder is always tempting and Bricin delivered a sumptuous introduction to an excellent meal. The staff are extremely pleasant, they are managing the new restrictions very effectively and our early bird timing was more than plentiful to enjoy this meal. I ordered the lamb boxty which was very tasty, my wife's hake and salmon gratin was very well received and our son's roast chicken consumed with aplomb. Desserts were excellent and all for €26. Not to be missed.

We had a lovely time in Bricin and would recommend it to anyone visiting Killarney. The food was absolutely delicious; we had the crab claws and Camembert to start and the chicken in filo pastry and the boxty with tarragon chicken for main. It was the best meal we had in a long time. The staff were also so friendly and helpful, our waitress chatted to us about local attractions and activities in the area. This restaurant is definitely a must-visit while in Killarney, we will be back

This was the first restaurant we visited since the opening of the restrictions, so we were looking forward to our night out but a little nervous. We had no need to be nervous as we were met by all the familiar friendly staff who had all safety protocol in place and social distancing, Johnny was as charming as always, Phil, Catherine and Anna very our servers. We had looked up the menu on line beforehand and had already decided . Our food of chicken in filo, pork apricot and rack of lamb were delicious, as were the desserts and baileys coffee. All the staff wore visors which made us feel safe as we hear of staff in other restaurants don’t as it’s not mandatory, but we were glad the staff had the sense to wear them to look after themselves and their customers. I would highly recommend Bricin restaurant for a fantastic meal and a safe night out.
