Me and a friend of mine had a lovely dinner at the Tan Yard in the Killarney Plaza hotel tonight. The food was amazing! I thought it would be a bit difficult because my friend is vegan but Ante the waiter was absolutely above and beyond our expectations and offered her a few vegan options. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent atmosphere. I would really recommend to anyone and you may have luck and Ante will be your waiter. Thank you so much for making our night so enjoyable. This restaurant was outstanding. The decor, the staff and the menu were equally wonderful. We were in a family group of 15 with two babies and were given a beautiful secluded section. They took covid very seriously and practiced safety all evening. The food was in a league of its own and reasonably priced considering the standard of food we received. We will 100% be returning when we are in killarney again and would highly recommend booking this little gem of a restaurant.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining in the Tan Yard last night. Our waitress Laura was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and she really enhanced our experience. The food was also top class and we will definitely be back soon.

Went for dinner lastnight in the Tan Yard with my girlfriend. Our booking was for 9:30 as it was the only table available which we didn’t mind as we presumed it would be the last sitting for the night. While the food was good, we were left slightly unimpressed with the service. According to the new guidelines we were supposed to vacate our table at 11:15PM. The waiter came over to us at 11PM with the bill for our food and a few drinks. Bearing in mind we were the last sitting we asked could we have two more drinks with the bill before we went. The waiter said no that they were finished, 15 minutes before our allocated time. No member of staff came around to offer us last orders before the bar shut. To make matters worse, it was another 15/20 minutes after we got our bill that he came around with the card machine to pay, in which time we would have comfortably finished our drinks. I have no issue with the current guidelines and abiding by the rules, but a little bit of common sense and customer service wouldn’t go astray.

Regular visitors to the hotel where we always dine one night in the tan yard. On this occasion we were celebrating a landmark birthday and unfortunately the meal did not meet expectations. Servers were friendly and the starter was lovely and to be the standard expected of the restaurant and the price. However the main was a dramatic let down, to be served chips which were the equivalent of a €1 super saver frozen bag of chips in an establishment like this was a huge let down. Will certainly be looking at other restaurant options on our next visit.

Absolute joke

Ordered dinner for delivery, which arrived over two hours late after multiple phone calls. Food arrived cold, the so called beef burger that arrived was half of a day old burger thrown into a slider bun with a slice of lettuce. The other beef dinner might as well have been cardboard. Promised a bottle of wine as an apology for the delay which magically never made it into the bag either. An absolute joke

Ate twice on our weeks holidays in Killarney. First visit better. the gentelman at front of house we found a bit abrupt on the second occasion. We asked could we be seated away from the front door, he was abrupt in his reply and it was a cses of take it or leave it. The satay noodles dish the secoinfd night had no cashew nuts in it despite it being a part of the dish... Service was hit or miss. The waiter we had the first night was great, she may have ben asian, such a lovely girl. Service the second night not nearly as good, different waiters, hard to get attention.

Marco Pierre White once said, "perfection is lots of little things done well." Very few things were done well on our visit to The Tan Yard. For starters, a ham hock crocequette which arrived and was bland. The restaurants signature starter special, a crab and caviar dish, were the ingredients were sourced locally from within 10km, was anything but special. The main course of duck, was soo overcooked it's texture resembled that of pork liver! The mushrooms on the plate I am convinced where at some point taken out an replaced with strips of rubber. Served in a sauce that more resembled a lumpy goup than a sauce. Two sides were included, one was a broccoli in a peanut satay sauce, and was horrid. The second side, the champ, was surprisingly lovely. However the service and atmosphere was good, but when asked if we wanted dessert, given the previous two courses, we could not wait to get out of the building than subject ourselves to any further punishment. The bill came with a complimentary raspberry and chocolate truffle cube. Apprehensive about eating it at first, this truffle cube, turned out to be amazing, hands down the best bit of food we got from this restaurant on our visit.

The dishes you have mentioned are real favorites among our regulars and team here in The Tan Yard. It is unfortunate that these dishes were not to your liking. Food is a very personal thing when it comes to preferences and I do feel there are many dishes on our menu that you may have preferred. The duck in particular which you have mentioned is served with king oyster mushroom which does have a very meaty texture. "The lumpy goup" is actually a potato mousseline rather then a sauce and our broccoli we can do plain if our guests do not enjoy peanut satay sauce. If any of our guests are unsure about items on our menu our team are always at hand to describe each element of the dish in detail, we love to share our knowledge about our fantastic product with all of our guests. We are happy to see you enjoyed our service, atmosphere and sweet treat we give to all of our guests at the end of their meal. Good food with friendly service , may need to review COVID safety

Front of house was very welcoming and a pleasure to meet . The waitresses were friendly and the food was good, although the steak was cooked a little more than I’d have liked for a medium steak . I think the tan yard need to be more careful with social distancing , as they tried to seat a family of three next to us and the family refused as they were literally on the same table with a six inch high divide . The staff did move this family to another table with no complaints .

We really enjoyed our meal at the Tan Yard, very welcoming the food was delicious. Our waiter Sofia was fantastic very knowledgable with her recommendations for wine and worked to a very efficient and high standard. We will definitely be returning.

Amazing new menu!

I live in Killarney and this is the first time I have ever been excited to review a local menu! I dined in the Tanyard tonight with friends as I have done many other nights; as usual the service and atmosphere was great! The cocktail menu has been revamped and is absolutely on par with some of the best cocktail bars I’ve ever visited! Pre-dinner/post-dinner cocktails are all very well laid out for you... the Smoke and Mirrors cocktail is just WOW!!! The only word I can use to describe the food is excellent!! Super fresh and fragrant ingredients, really interesting combinations, extremely well cooked meat and fish; it was just an excellent meal. The cabbage side is surprisingly good and the broccoli is just heavenly! The crab macaroni is gorgeous and big and the scallop ceviche is delicate and delicious. I had the seabass; loved it. Friends had ribeye and chicken curry; both looked fantastic and everyone was really happy. I have already booked my next sitting to try the tomahawk and am thrilled to recommend to the most discerning, finicky, plain and adventurous of diners. What a rare treat it is to eat out these days but to eat out and enjoy such high standards brings tears to the eyes! Stay safe all and enjoy x

Impeccable Presentation & Service Even with Take Away

The Tan Yard, located at the Killarney Plaza Hotel is a usual breakfast haunt for me when Covid19 allows it so when we hit the first lockdown back in April 2020 I made the decision that weekends and b/hol's my home kitchen was closed. We tried the Tan Yard Take Away service back then and haven't gotten take away from many other places since. You simply cannot fault it. All done online with 'notes for the chef', it was so easy. Just pull up outside and the staff come suited and booted with our delivery to the car 'enjoy your meal'.... and that we certainly did each time and having been doing since. I'm a veggie, my husband is a meat & two veg type, one child (not too fussy) & 1 teen that fluctuates from the children to adults meals. The menu is extensive and we have never been disappointed with the variety. From the packaging, presentation and obviously the meal of course, I simply couldn't fault it. A really great service. 10/10

Take away valentines

We ordered the meal in a box for valentines weekend, when it arrived and opened it we were greeted with a menu with every detail from starters to desserts. They had everything presented in boxes and little containers. We followed everything from word for word and to sit at home with this fantastic meal was actually the most beautiful valentines we have had. It's times like this you really appreciate everything and I cannot thank the staff of the Tan Yard for making our day so extra special and the wonder display of your beautiful box. My friends and I had our meal in The Tan Yard on Sunday the 12th July 2020 and we can not fault it at all! Our server Sophia was outstanding, chatty, extremely polite and very patient with us. The food was delicious with massive starter portions, and mouth watering mains and desserts! The restaurant was beautifully decorated. Honestly not one bad experience. It was our first time here and we will most definitely be returning!

Beautiful Lovely Restaurant.

We are a group of nine people and we were extremely well looked after by the Tan Yard at the Plaza Hotel. The restaurant itself is lovely inside and we had a lovely table with plenty of space around us. The advised us about the time restrictions when we arrived but were very understanding about time as we were a large group and they put no pressure on us to go as we were an 8pm sitting. The food itself was lovely and everyone had different orders and we were well catered for. The only advise I would give is the starters are very large and it might be advisable to share one like the chicken wings. We were nearly full before we got to the mains. Lovely girl looked after us called Laura it is hard to beat a few friendly words and a nice manner which this girl has top marks to Tan Yard
