Last minute decision to walk to the pub and meet up with a friend for lunch. Booked a table and advised we needed to be in the marquee as we were from different households. Arrived slightly later than planned but they kept the kitchen open...so we could have a meal. Great food, drinks and excellent service making us feel very safe in these difficult times.More
Disappointing visit. Visited today, social distancing was good and staff friendly. However it was freezing cold in there, and we waited at least 35 minutes plus for our food to arrive. Portions were huge,the ham and eggs were nice but the bubble and squeak ,(...which a friend had recommended to me ),was not very nice. It tasted as though it had been made days ago and re heated . Altogether I was a bit disappointed as I had heard really good things about this pub.More
Marvellous village inn experience with plenty of social distancing. Very supportive staff. Gorgeous grub. Great outdoor seating area and truly spectacular hanging basket blooms.
After not being able to book anything for my 11 year olds birthday we took a trip to the sun. The food was amazing. An extra thanks to Bridget, who was attentive and extremely sociable. You are an asset to the place, thank you
First pub outing since lockdown, and my wife & I were very pleased! There’s friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere here at the Sun Inn. The addition of the bar and food shack outside is fantastic, and both are ideal for eating/drinking in the pub...garden. The zaatar chicken skewers and chips were lush!!😋👍🏼🍻🍷More
I am somewhat surprised by the recent negative reviews of the Sun. Whilst other pubs have been resting on their laurels during lockdown, the team at the Sun have been cooking up plans to reopen in style and in safety. We visited with some friends...on a warm Friday evening to celebrate a birthday. As always, we are laden with children so sat at the top of the garden. We tend to find things work out for the best this way! The outside space has been upgraded with the addition of an outdoor servery hatch and a ‘snack shack’ where the chef makes BBQ food such as burgers and chicken skewers. It’s all nicely spaced out and very pleasant indeed. The food menu has enough choice with some interesting options such as Lebanese chickpea curry. On the night we visited, we had chicken wings, a curry, chicken skewers, burgers and kids’ sausage and chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was impeccable. Not rushed, but professional and welcoming. It’s a tough old gig in these times to strike a balance of safety first and genuine hospitality. Some people will want staff to be in full hazmat gear with Darth Vader masks. I understand that but at the same time, there are other mitigations in action at the Sun that mean their approach is more subtly considered. Maybe too subtle for some.More
Went tonight 11 July 2020. Garden was lovely and tables socially distanced. Bar had a sort of system but no screen for staff and punters in any areas. Three people with no masks behind small bar area at one point. Food menus in garden was...limited choice. Attempt to keep safe with delivery in cardboard boxes . We had burgers and veggie burger. Poor quality and disappointing. We were so looking forward to a pub meal. Garden tables need to be numbered as asked several times where we were sitting .More
We booked this pub for two families last Sunday The service was very friendly, but it took nearly an hour for us to get the food. This was ridiculous as half our party ordered Sunday roast. We had four hungry children who were desperate to...eat. Once to food arrived however, it was very good and the portions were excellent.More
Great pub, no so great food. We came here for anniversary dinner after coming here several times for beer. I had sausage and mash, however the sausages were cooked dry. The pub is great, food not so much.
The new ownership have really opened the place up. The Apple crumble was huge, and lovely. I had the daily pie too, and whilst the gravy was a bit much for my taste it was nice.
