I visit the Met often as it is pretty close to work and always seems to be out meeting point for our work drinks. I have also eaten at here both just for pizza and then for their early doors set menu (2 courses for...More

Really great on a Sunday or on a sunny day as it has a lovely out door area. Great atmosphere, great wine. We love the house burgers and Sunday lunch, little more expensive than other places of a similar nature but well worth it.

A really enjoyable Easter Day roast dinner, tasty, plenty of it and good service. Most definitely recommend it, not the cheapest but excellent value

Four of us visited the restaurant for a meal including wine. We chose this restaurant because it has such a great atmosphere including many book shelves and memorabilia. The staff are very helpful, the service is spot on and there is a good choice of...More

Went for hearty English breakfast today and was left feeling broken hearted. They don't actually serve a full English breakfast on the menu just high priced rolls... with a bit of juggling and extra charges and they do allow you to order a fullish English...More

What a shame, was looking forward to a nice lunch with my sister. Have had drinks here before and loved the atmosphere of the pub. The starters of duck pate wasn't good at all; the bread was stale and the pate bland and dry. Sweet...More

I really like the Met for a drink but I’ve never eaten here until yesterday, if you haven’t been it’s a very handsome well decorated pub great for families with kids but dogs not allowed inside. Ordered the crayfish salad which was very fresh with...More

Sorry, some pubs allow dogs and others don't ! There is a large outdoor seating area with heaters and the landlords may permit dogs on a lead there, however, as the other reviewer said - that is down to the landlords.

Description
The Metropolitan's smart & classic decor reflects the building’s colourful history as a fine Victorian railway hotel. Behind the bar, tall library-style ladders reaching almost to the ceiling rest on a display of fine wines and premium spirits.Treat yourself to an afternoon tea in the relaxing library area with its comfortable armchairs, open fire and well-stacked bookshelves. Ifyou’re dining, take a seat in our elegant conservatory restaurant – light and airy in the daytime and warm and intimate come the evening, it’s the perfect setting to indulge in gorgeous home-cooked cuisine. We serve food all day from breakfast onwards and a there’s a selection of seasonal menus and daily specials to choose from. Our outdoor bar is a wonderful place to enjoy quality drink, fine food and balmy temperatures. You don’t have to wait for a sunny daythough; with its huge outdoor canopy you can dine alfresco whatever theweather.
