I've wanted to eat here for years and finally went last night. The restaurant looks great although I wish I had visited before the refurb as the old decor sounds great. The staff were attentive and pleasant. The food was great although the Kachapuri starter meant that there wasn't much room left for the main course. .

Although this restaurant has been around forever we went for the first time last night and will definitely be returning. The menu is a refreshing change with a large selection of hot and cold starters. We were spoiled for choice so had the meat selection set menu which was delicious. Everything tasted freshly cooked/prepared and we had a lovely bottle... More

We used to go for the excellent food and nice atmosphere but sadly the latter is all lost in a refurbishment. You now have a tiled floor, one big room with a lot of tables in the middle and some booths on the side, cold recessed lighting and overall somewhat sterile atmosphere. The booths are way too tight and the... More

We arrived and sat down and orders a drink. Our drinks arrived and the managing supervisor came over to tell us we needed to order quickly as he was sick and needed to leave. As you can imagine this put us off and found it hard to see past the fact he had told us he had just been sick.... More

This was a most pleasant experience. My girlfriend is gluten intolerant, and there were plenty of good options, and we both agreed this was our best meal in Manchester. The minced lamb meat and aubergine starter/meze was amazing. The dolma as well. No wonder this is Henrikh Mkhtaryan's favourite place in Manchester.

We have been to Armenia twice, so we thought we'd try this place to see how it compared to food in Armenia itself. The menu is extensive and the wine list excellent. I can recommend the Georgian Saperavi wine, which is superb. We found that Georgia was better for wine while Armenia made some lovely brandy, while we were over... More

Ordered vegetarian platter for two as a starter. No houmous or baba ganoush as described. When I pointed this out, the waiter stated they preferred to use fresh things which I didn't really understand. The starter was edible however. I ordered a meatball dish for my main course which was served with a glass of vodka.Good God this is truly... More

If you fancy something different do try this place. The restaurant is clean and not very loud. Staff are attentive and friendly. The food - good attempt at Georgian khinkali and khachapuri. There is room for improvement of cores. Lamb was very nice and all of us enjoyed the Georgian wine. Would come back again.

One of my most favourite restaurants has been gutted, restyled, redecorated and has been stripped of ALL the appealing old fashioned charm that the original had. Regulars to the old place will know what I'm talking about. It now looks just like any generic modern restaurant with no soul. Why fix something that wasn't broke? At least the food was... More

My first time of having Armenian food and I was very impressed. You must try the stews, very filling, good quantity of food and all very tasty. Good service and friendly staff.

Since opening in 1968, we have been inviting you to experience our hospitality and wonderful cuisine. We have been serving the same great food for over four decades. Armenia has a very rich culinary culture, with influences from neighbouring nations. Walking down the steps takes you back in time, which is pleasant amongst the bright shop fronts of Albert Square. The ambiance is superb with the warmest use of colour and artefacts. Our home made mezze starters will get your taste buds tingling whilst mains include traditional charcoaled grilled meat`s. Family run since opening shows the passion of the Armenian Tavern with grandma’s recipes and tastes that have been handed down for generations.
